Cai Guo-Qiang’s Head On: If the Wolves Smash Into a Glass Wall, It’s All Over…

Cai Guo-Qiang: Head On

One of the mutants who did not make an appearance in X3 was “Wolfblaster,” whose powers enable him to create bursts of wolves that fly from his hands and smack into his opponent, knocking them down if they’re not already out of commission by being completely gobsmacked.

Lies.

This is actually “Head On,” a work of art by Cai Guo-Qiang which consists of 99 realistic, life-sized wolves flying across a room and smacking into a glass wall.

I hate it when that happens. You’re a wolf, you finally, finally get airborne and then you realize your stupid pack leader is headed for a glass wall. Isn’t that always the way of it?

  • I just booked my Fall NYC trip and Cai Guo-Qiang has Clear Sky Black Cloud on the roof top garden at the Met until October 29th. I am stoked!
