Gift Ideas From Universal…

Yes, Universal has many titles that are out in time for the holidays, and here are the three they thought you should know about:

Justin Long–yes, that Apple guy–heads up the cast in Accepted, a story that all of us can relate to. Because if you can’t get accepted to a college–well, just make your own! With Lewis Black along for the ride, the hijinks are vast along with the requisite amount of university humor. This release comes with an audio commentary with the director, Long, Black and others. It also sports two featurettes, deleted scenes, a gag reel, and more.

Then there’s the ginormous uber-mongo edition of King Kong in which Peter Jackson seems hell-bent on showing that there can be such a thing as too much movie. It comes with a commentary, almost forty minutes of deleted scenes, a feature-length docu on the making of the film (which also covers the aborted 1996 version Jackson tried to make), animatics, full versions of the 1996 and 2005 scripts, outtakes, gag reels, and scads more. Even if you didn’t like the movie, the bonus features are worthy.

Lastly, there’s Michael Mann’s feature film adaptation of the television show that made white suits even scarier than they are today. That’s right, it’s Miami Vice, starring Colin Farrell and Chazzie award-winner Jamie Foxx, both sporting fascinating hair configurations and going off to fight crime. Here, we’re talking the unrated version, which sports a running audio commentary with Mann, plus a mini-slew of featurettes including one dealing with shooting on location.
