I originally posted this to my del.icio.us links, but then the more I thought about it, the more cool I realized it actually was and that I should probably frontpage the damn thing. I found it via BLDGBLOG, who points out that Japan obviously loves the idea, the U.S. thinks it’s kinda keen, but China is not having it. Why? They explain:

…these artificial encrustations of living matter, planted for political reasons at the beginning of the 21st century, could very well influence the future outcome of marine combat between the United States and China.
