32 Days of Halloween, Day 23: The Thing

John Carpenter's The Thing

Thanks to Neatorama for pointing folks our way! Greetings, Neatoramulans.

Here’s how it works for the uninitiated. 32 Days of Halloween lasts 32 days because we staged a coup and stole the 30th of September for the month of October. Early each day, I post a trailer (and, as we get closer to The Day, more random stuff). Then each night, it’s movie night, with another full-length film posted for your dancing and dining pleasure. So welcome to the party.

And feel free to subscribe to our RSS feed to be notified of our updates…it’s a lot more efficient than the smoke signals we were using back in 1998.

To kick off this Monday: we already posted the full-length version of the original, now it’s time for the trailer of the badass pre-pod person John Carpenter remake of The Thing.

And listen, while we’re on the subject of Carpenter, has anyone seen Susan?

You know…Susan, radiologist, glasses? (Lots of spoilers in this trailer…if you didn’t get that reference, maybe you should just skip it.)

Prince of Darkness was brilliant because of the freaky running bit regarding the dream sequence…and what it meant. Also it got points for showing us Jameson Parker not playing AJ Simon and also Thom Bray not playing Boz. If you don’t get those references, just nod and smile and don’t make me feel old. Anyway, did you know that Thom Bray now teaches middle school drama?

And finally for this morning, let’s go with a great bonus bit: Vincent Price talking with John Carradine, found via Frankenstein’s Fun House

Update: Alas, that bit appears to have gone the way of all flesh. If anybody finds it again, please let me know.
