13 Days of Xmas – Day 4: Disney!

Jiminy Cricket Christmas Card

Neatorama reminds us that ASIFA-Hollywood Animation Archive posted, back in February, a great collection of Disney studio Christmas cards that were sent out from 1948 through the mid-50s. They are owned by the family of Clair Weeks.

This inspired me: a day of Xmas–about Disney! Trouble is, there’s a lot of crap Disney stuff online. I mean, do you know how many vids of High School Musical and Hannah Montana I had to wade through to find anything worth posting?

Ah, but this makes it all worthwhile…

It’s the Firehouse 5+2, the great band made up of Disney animators. You can’t not be in the Xmas Spirit after you hear this:

And if you’d like to exit the Xmas Spirit, then check out this advert for Merry Christmas Songs. The songs sung by the “All Mouse Chorus” will make you want to claw your eardrums out of your head.

And we couldn’t go much further without the Disney Christmas Carol, starring Unca Scrooge as…well, Unca Scrooge. Here’s a taste.

The full thing is available on Vol. 2 of Walt Disney Treasures: Mickey Mouse in Living Color, which actually has it in widescreen. So. You need it, just like all the Treasures releases.

And we’ve posted about this before–the great idea of mashing up Nightmare Before Christmas with The Haunted Mansion at Disney resorts. Some folks went in, with permission no less, and recorded the entire ride experience at Disneyland. Brilliant. Does anyone know who they got for the quite respectable Paul Frees impersonation?
