CSI: The Complete Seventh Season. CSI remains the shit. Gil Grissom (William Petersen) and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) are finally together even though their relationship on the down low at the lab. Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) is witness to her erstwhile father getting shot. Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda) is trying to cope with killing an assailant in the line of duty, getting beat down by the assailant's friends, and then being sued by the assailant's family for wrongful death. Don't worry; the show is not descending to the level of soap opera. There are plenty of dead bodies, lab tests, and suspicious suspects to satisfy your crime cravings. There are even a couple of high powered guest stars for you to watch in Liev Schreiber and Roger Daltrey. And then there is the mysterious Miniature Killer whose eerily accurate dioramas of crime scenes will baffle the team for the whole season and lead to someone's life being in the balance. As with the earlier season box sets, there is a tonnage of special extras with commentaries for seven episodes, in depth behind the scenes featurettes on two episodes ("Built to Kill", "Living Legend"), and a tour of the actual Clark County Crime lab in Las Vegas. There also features on the aforementioned Miniature Killer, how to direct television at a motion picture level, and how CSI has grown from its first season. Click here to buy it from Amazon.

CSI: Miami – The Complete Fifth Season. Once again Horatio Caine (David Caruso) dons the sunglasses of justice to solve all the murder and mayhem that plague the streets of Miami. The crimes range from a fatal bear attack to a plot to detonate a dirty nuclear bomb. Caine also has to deal with one of his team getting shot, another team member getting fired for paying gambling debts to a suspect, and the whole team investigated by Internal Affairs after an abusive ex-husband dies mysteriously. I guess the heat does make you a little crazy. As with the earlier season box sets, there is a plethora of special extras with commentaries for five episodes, an in depth behind the scenes featurette on the season premiere, and a tour of the actual Miami Dade County Crime lab. There also features on how the production team achieves the visual style of the show and the clothing the characters wear. Click here to buy it from Amazon.

NCIS: The Complete Fourth Season. When we last left our heroes, Gibbs (Mark Harmon) had retired to Mexico, but his team still needs his leadership, especially when one of them is accused of murder. Gibbs and his team solve this conundrum as well as unraveling crimes committed by terrorists, arms dealers, and serial killers. This NCIS team is going to need all their skills to deal with a cannibal couple, a murderous robot, and a walking dead man. As with the earlier season box sets, there is a battalion of special extras with commentaries for six episodes, a round table with the cast answering fan questions, a tour of the autopsy lab set, and an analysis of the season. There also features on how the production team achieves the visual style of the show, the props used by the actors, the set design, and how they coordinate all these separate elements. Click here to buy it from Amazon.

The Wild Wild West - The Complete Third Season. The Wild Wild West – The Complete Third Season. Secret Service agents James West (Robert Conrad) and Artemus Gordon (Ross Martin) are back for more exciting adventure in the American frontier. The duo must fight with enemies both foreign and domestic with their devious designs, dastardly devices, and deceitful dames. But with West's quick draw and right hook and Gordon's inventing genius and mastery of disguise, not even the criminal intellect of Dr. Miguelito Loveless can overcome. Noted as one of the first examples of steampunk as well as an entertaining mixture of the western, espionage, and even the sci-fi genres, all 24 episodes are available on six discs. Click here to buy it from Amazon.
