Frontier Cthulhu Book Edited by William Jones Cover Art

Chaosium. It appeared for three weeks in 1956 on the periodic table as its own element, the essence of sheer gibbering madness in a liquid form. No one knows what the deal was in 1956 with that. So I can't help you there.

What I can help you with, though, is the company Chaosium. Are they named for this phantom element? They're not saying. They are kind of snickering and making weird hand movements in the air and shit like that, but saying? Nope. The other thing they're doing is giving you craploads of good old fashioned books and role-playing bits and other stuff primarily based around Lovecraft & Friends. And you know we love some Lovecraft.

And now we've got Frontier Cthulhu, an anthology that...well, let's let it speak for itself:

As explorers conquered the frontiers of North America, they disturbed sleeping terrors and things long forgotten by humanity. Journey into the undiscovered country where fierce Vikings struggle against monstrous abominations. Travel with explorers as they learn of buried secrets and the creatures guarding ancient knowledge. Go west across the plains, into the territories were sorcerers dwell in demon-haunted lands, and cowboys confront cosmic horrors.

That's right: it's got cowboys. The Good, The Bad, and the AHHHH GOD WTF IS THAT? How can you not dig that? (For a full list of the stories in it, check it out here.)

You can not only dig it, though: you can win it. Wanna? Get to it, amigos.
