Get Ready for a Cinematic Throwdown in June

Spotted by Siege in a cinema yesterday:

Kung Fu Panda vs. The Incredible Hulk

Kung Fu Panda opens June 6th. The Incredible Hulk opens June 13th. The advantage the Panda has is that he’s animated, he’s voiced by Jack Black, and his entire movie was not contained in his trailer. The advantage the big green guy has is…um. Um. Come to think of it, I really don’t know what the Hulk movie has going for it.

What do you think?

  • Edward Norton as Banner using Buddhist meditation to try to keep control of his altar ego (not to mention: receiving some credit for the screenplay)?

Yeah, KFP has a talking, kung fu-practicing mammal.

And then there’s the other half of Tyler Durden.

Who would you take in a fight?

  • Box office wise, my money’s on the Panda. There’s nothing about the Hulk film that looks appealing other than the fact that it is Norton. But Norton will look fine on my TV at home. And I think a lot of people will agree.

Jack Black is a big draw. So I think even if Hulk has a decent opening weekend, you’ll see a 50-60% dropoff for the 2nd weekend.

Granted, my track record for box office prognostication sucks, but if the 300 Trailer Rule holds, Hulk will underperform.

  • My money is on po:
    1. HE BECAME THE DRAGON WARRIOR, SO HOW WOULD HULK BEAT HIM? IT’S IMPOSSIBLE.

2.THE FURIOUS 5 WOULD ASSIST PO IN KICKING HULKS BUTT. SO PO WOULD EASILY WIN.
