A George Washington biopic is in the works to be scribed by Nicholas Meyer. Meyer is best known around these parts for helming both the excellent time travel pic Time After Time and some flick called Wrath of Khan. Our suggestion? If you can’t find somebody with the–hate to use the word but in this case it actually fits–gravitas of David Morse in John Adams, just cast him again. Source: Hollywood Reporter.

Avenue Q is getting a new Kate Monster and Lucy: Christy Carlson Romano, voice of Kim Possible. This starts September 29th. If anybody sees a performance with her, let us know how it goes, would you? Source: Variety.

Book of Eli is a post-apocalyptic film that will be directed by The Brothers Hughes and star Denzel Washington as a “lone hero who fights his way across an America devastated by an apocalypse.” Gary Whitta scribed (and he apparently adapted the Akira screenplay for the two-part live action remake) and Anthony Peckham rescribed it (and he’s a co-writer on the previously mentioned Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes project). If you’re feeling bad about the week that was, at least you can console yourself with the fact that you more than likely did not cremate a total stranger thinking he was your dad.

Guitar Hero World Tour is getting Sting and Tool. Sting will become an in-game character. “Aspiring frontmen can take the stage as Sting throughout their vocal career or play alongside him as he performs one of The Police classics, ‘Demolition Man.'” Also, Tool has songs “Parabola,” “Schism,” and “Vicarious” in the game. And it will feature “an all-new venue designed in collaboration with the band and highlighting the art style that has become a staple in their music videos, live shows and album artwork.” In other words, trippy and disturbed.

The people behind the Large Hadron Collider are getting death threats. Also, I’d like to nominate this as the science quote of the year: “Anyone who thinks the LHC will destroy the world is a twat.”

The Police are releasing a live 2CD/2DVD set called Certifiable based on their reunion tour. It will have the entirety of their Buenos Aires concert. There’s also a Blu-Ray version and a “three-LP, premium 180-gram vinyl set with MP3 file key” version. All of this is only available via Best Buy in the U.S. In the UK, the DVD and Blu-Ray flavors will be available November 24th, in the rest of the world on November 10th.

James Bond goes better with Coke. But–before you start cursing and throwing things around, Daniel Craig isn’t going to be sucking back a Coke Zero. But Coca-Cola is going to be pushing Quantum of Solace with millions of bucks. And it will appear in the film. In twenty countries, Coke Zero will be renamed as “Zero Zero 7.” This is a better fit than the tie-in they tried to do with Hair, where they renamed the product “Three-Five-Zero-Coke-Zero.” Source: Variety.
