Stuff You Need to Know: Graysons, Meet the Graysons…

Dick Ward as Robin

  • This is interesting: instead of doing a Bruce Wayne series–because that would make way too much sense–CW is working on The Graysons, the tale of Robin’s pre-Robin days. This is from Smallville executive producers and McG, Supernatural executive producer. There will be a pilot. The article refers to Dick Grayson as “Dick ‘DJ’ Grayson.” I don’t ever recall seeing “DJ” as a nickname for Dick–maybe I’m missing something and UM can help me out with that. They’re scrambling around trying to figure out what to have to take the place of Smallville when it inevitably ends. The article also mentions that McG’s company has got Human Target at Fox. This will be the second time it’s been brought to television. Here, have a look at the first.

Yes, that’s Rick Springfield. And R. Lee Ermey. Later in this episode, Springfield fights David Carradine. Seriously. Source: Variety.

  • Angel Heart being remade. The rights have been optioned and the rights to the novel upon which the film was based, Falling Angel, was optioned as well. This is being spearheaded by producer Michael DeLuca. To be true to the spirit of the original, we should find some young woman fresh from a sitcom who can scandalize the public with her sex scenes. Any nominations? Source: Variety.
  • Jack Black and the co-writers of Kung Fu Panda are going to team up to make a comedic version of Bourne Identity. “…the story sees Black as an American who finds himself washed up the shores of Cuba with no idea of who he is and how he got there. He comes to the conclusion that he must be a superspy, though in reality he is far from one.” If you wanted to get really meta, you would have it turn out that Jack Black is in fact playing Jack Black. • A sequel to Cats and Dogs? Why? Because it made $200M worldwide. And it probably did well on video. The full title is Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore. Chris O’Donnell and Jack McBrayer (30 Rock) are the live action leads. Ron Friedman and Steve Bencich (co-writers on Open Season). Source: Hollywood Reporter.
  • Chess invasion from space? And no, I don’t mean the musical. Greg Chamitoff aboard the International Space Station is bold: he’s challenged his home planet to a chess match. It’s already underway. “Key players in the game will be the kindergarten through third grade U.S. Chess Championship Team and its chess club teammates from Stevenson Elementary School in Bellevue, Wash. The K-3 champions will select up to four possible moves on Earth’s turn. The public then will vote on the move transmitted to orbit.” You can follow the match here. This is in direct violation of the Bush administration’s edict that NASA should play Tic Tac Toe instead, as it’s a simpler game and has been done before and doesn’t move man forward in earth-to-orbit gaming one iota, but costs just as much.
  • Red Tails is a film about the Tuskegee Airmen from WWII. The story is by George Lucas–but don’t freak out. He’s only executive producing and Anthony Hemingway is directing. And indeed, Lucas isn’t scribing either–John Ridley’s doing that. Ridley was responsible for Undercover Brother, a criminally underappreciated comedy. Shooting kicks off in March. Source: Variety.
  • Michael Sheen, who is Frost in the upcoming Frost/Nixon, has joined the cast of Alice in Wonderland. No word on which part he’s playing, though. But since Depp’s the Mad Hatter, I’m thinking White Rabbit. Source: Variety.

Are there any sitcoms left to get the young women?

    • Am i the only one who thought that Chris Potter was like Rick Springfield’s goofy doppelganger?

Which makes the knowledge of a fight between Caradine and Springfield absolutely perfect for me.

    • Just did a Google search because I though the two were the same person. Rick Springfield and Chris Potter do resemble one another.
