Matt Smith is the 11th Doctor

Matt Smith: 11th Doctor Who

So Matt Smith is confirmed as the 11th Doctor Who. Huge shoes to fill as it is Doctor Who and he is taking over from David Tennant. So. I don’t have a dog in this fight, so feel free to debate the matter in comments if the spirit moves you. He seems enthusiastic enough and says he hasn’t slept, so I like him already. Although I must confess: his hair scares me.

Anyway, here’s an interview with him and following that are some snippets of him in action I’ve been able to find online. FWIW…

You know who’s the big other winner in all this? Matt Smith the painter. Since he comes up #2 Google result when you search for “Matt Smith.” Nice.

Here is a snippet of him from the series Party Animals.

Here he is at the first part of The Shadow in the North, the Philip Pullman book translated to the screen by the BBC. That’s him as Jim Taylor, talking to JJ Feild as photographer Fred Garland. And Billie Piper is playing Sally Lockhart. And that dog towards the end is awesome.

  1. I loved the fact that no one knows who the hell this kid is! The word is he’s going be a very dark Doctor which will be a nice change. He looks like he should be in the band Suede or something…

  2. Every time they change Doctors, I’m sure I’ll hate the new one, and I’m always wrong. So, I’ll grit my teeth and look forward to it. But damn, I love David Tennant… (And I wonder who gets to be the companion, Tate was a great change of pace.)

  3. My son just popped his head over my shoulder, and I pointed out this is the new Doctor, “What do you think?” Response, “Hmmm, too much hair…he could get a haircut.”
