Another excellent 50th Anniversary 2-CD set is here from Sony Legacy. It’s Charles Mingus and Mingus Ah Um. On this release, you get the original album, plus the sequel on the second disc, Mingus Dynasty. And between the two CDs you’ve got bonus tracks from both albums and Ah Um alternate takes. Nice.

  • It’s excellent. I think the thing I hadn’t realized before throwing these contests on the site is just how much seriously badass jazz came out in 1959.
