13 Days of Xmas Day 2: XmasFlix

Visit from Santa Claus (1898)

After posting that terrifying holiday mental sorbet from this morning, I decided to delve into XmasFlix, where it actually got posted originally. And it’s a YouTube channel with a wealth of vintage Xmas vids. Our first one is from 1898, which features the first appearance on film of Santa Claus:

Next up, there’s a terribly odd Russian stop motion bit from 1913. “The Insects’ Christmas.” And when they all start walking around, it strikes me as surreal and just this side of Edward Gorey. And it’s a helluva lot better than Zemeckis’ CG films, isn’t it?

Make sure check out XmasFlix on YouTube. They’re posting some amazing stuff for the holidays.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]

  • I just googled myself and noticed your comments. Thank you so much. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I have plenty more Xmas films, but did not have time to put them all up. But I just uploaded a new one to say HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    Peace.
