Music Monday: Birthday Songs, Decemberists, Say Hi & More…

More music picks for your Monday curated by Rob & myself. If you like what you hear, use the links provided to snag it for yourself from Amazon. Doing so through us gives us kickbacks, and those help pay for stuff like more bandwidth. And also so we can buy more music.

Sugarcubes: Life's Too Good
Innocence Mission: We Walked in Song

[ad#shortpost]
We lead off with a pick from Rob: it’s “Birthday” from The Sugarcubes. It’s Thespia’s birthday, but this isn’t her birthday song, because, well, if you listen to the lyrics it’s a bit creepy. Anyway…

That’s available on the album Life’s Too Good, which is available from Amazon as either a CD or MP3 download release.

Here’s a proper birthday song for Thespia. It’s from fantastic band The Innocence Mission and their album We Walked in Song. It’s “Happy Birthday.”

The album is available from Amazon as either a CD or MP3 download. If you don’t know the band at all, may I suggest their self-titled debut album as well. Great stuff.

Decemberists: The King is Dead
Say Hi: Um, Uh Oh

So I like the #1 album in the country. If that makes me a hipster, so be it. But Rob turned me onto it, so he’s a hipster enabler. You decide which is worse. Here’s a live performance of “Rise to Me” by The Decemberists from The King is Dead.

King is Dead is available from Amazon as a CD, MP3 download, or a CD/DVD. That latter version has a thirty minute making-of docu. If you dig the album that much, it might be worth the extra $7. You be the judge.

Another pick from Rob is Say Hi. The band is actually just Eric Elbogen, and the latest album is Um, Uh Oh. Here’s “Trees Are a Swayin’.”

Um, Uh Oh is available from Amazon as both a CD and MP3 download.

This is a remix of “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele, recrafted by Jamie XX. Sadly, this was only available as a 12″ single and I can’t find it for purchase anywhere as an MP3.

And one last one from me: “Solitude is Bliss” from Tame Impala. Going with just a straight music embed because I found the music video to be unfortunately distractingly disturbing. So, enjoy this:

Again sadness: the album Innerspeaker is only available as a pricey import disc. Hang out and wait for the MP3 download, I would say.
