Music Monday: Ringo Deathstarr, REM and Black Joe Lewis

More music picks for your Monday curated by music minister, Rob Levy. I, Widge, am just the messenger. If you like what you hear, use the links provided to snag it for yourself from Amazon. Doing so through us gives us kickbacks, and those help pay for stuff like more bandwidth. And also so we can buy more music.

Ringo Deathstarr: Colour Trip
REM: Collapse Into Now
Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears: Scandalous

[ad#shortpost]We lead off with Rob’s favorite band name in recent memory: Ringo Deathstarr. And I have to admit: that’s a pretty choice one. That ranks up there with “Kathleen Turner Overdrive” and “Nancy Drew Blood.” Anyway, this is Ringo Deathstarr’s track “Imagine Hearts.”

The album is Colour Trip, which sums up that video nicely. It’s available from Amazon as both a CD and MP3 download.

R.E.M.‘s new album is Collapse Into Now and here’s their track from it, “It Happened Today.” Yes, I know: me posting an R.E.M. track. That’s what happens when both Rob and Aaron recommend something. I get outvoted.

The album’s available from Amazon on both CD and MP3 download.

Rob throws in this from Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears. Was trying to find a good video to include them last week and couldn’t find one good enough to share. I finally found something for this track, “Booty City.” Stills, yes, but the audio’s choice. And that’s what you came for.

That’s off their album Scandalous and it’s available from Amazon as both a CD and MP3 download.

  • One day, we’re going to sit you down and make you listen to some REM records.

Even if we never change your mind on them, it would make a hell of a Sound/Mixing Board cast.

  • I don’t hate all REM. “Leave” = great song. “Night Swimming” = great song. Hell, “Everybody Hurts,” great song. Michael Stipe = ignorant dick. That’s all I’m trying to say.
