Music Monday: Public Radio, I Am Sonic Rain & Doctor Who

More music picks for your Monday. If you like what you hear, use the links provided to snag it for yourself from Amazon. Doing so through us gives us kickbacks, and those help pay for stuff like more bandwidth. And also so we can buy more music.

Public Radio: Sweetchild
I Am Sonic Rain: Between Whales and Feverish Lights
Doctor Who Christmas Carol soundtrack

We’re leading off with one here by Public Radio: “Forgot Love.”

The only thing about that video is that I love the video/phone/mouth conceit so much that it’s almost a let down when you cut to the stage performance. Or like they got tired of having to edit the phone thing. I say this as someone who has come up with something clever and halfway into it decided, “Screw it, this is taking forever.” So I sympathize however it went down. Song’s good. (Update: the iPhone content…explained! (In the comments.))

The EP’s available from Amazon as both a CD and MP3 download.

Next we have I Am Sonic Rain and the excellent instrumental track, “Jellyfish Are Murderers.” Granted, Din would argue that they were all framed, but what can you do?

The album is Between Whales and Feverish Lights and came out last December. It’s available from Amazon as both a CD and MP3 download.

This is Rob’s pick and I second it. The soundtrack to the Doctor Who Christmas Carol special episode was only released in the UK. Which is a bloody shame because, you know guys, we do watch it over here now. Hell, I’m even watching it now. That should tell you something. Here’s Katherine Jenkins with Murray Gold’s score behind her doing “Abigail’s Song.”

You can snag it from Amazon UK in either CD or MP3 download form. Hint: the MP3 download has no shipping and is better for you. (And if you want just that one track, that’s here.

Dodos: Visiter
Lonely Forest: Arrows
Mosh Pit on Disney

Here we have The Dodos and their track “Winter” from the album Visiter. This is one of my picks and I honestly can’t remember where I first ran across them. But here you go:

The album is available from Amazon on CD and MP3 download.

And another one from me, this is The Lonely Forest with “Coyote,” taken from their new album, Arrows. They’re currently touring with The Joy Formidable.

What I really like about the deluxe version of the MP3 album is that you pay $2 more in order to get two bonus tracks…that aren’t available as MP3s. Nice. You can, however, get the regular album on both CD and MP3 download from Amazon. At the moment, their track “Turn Off This Song and Go Outside” is free.

And lastly, from the sadly-only-released-officially-in-Japan department, it’s Mosh Pit on Disney and the band TGMX covering the song “I’ll Try” from Return to Neverland. I’ve never heard of these guys before, but you know how I am about horns.

As an import, it’s pricey. No MP3 download available.
