The Sound Board #19: Burning Out vs. Fading Away

Chuck Berry

This podcast generally covers music and other transgressions. This episode stars Prof. J.M. Tuffley & Dr. Rob Levy with Widgett Walls in the chair.

This episode’s central topic is: when is it right to hang it up? When is it time to take your toys and go home from a musical perspective and what acts should probably do so, sooner than later? And where do fans figure in with all this? Along with that we discuss Britney Spears, the Glee creator gets better meds, doing shows for Qaddafi and more.

  • Gentlemen:
Wonderful podcast, as always. I knew The Rolling Stones needed to fade away, when I was watching their performance at Super Bowl XL. They performed one and a half good songs before playing themselves into monotony. They only seem to tour, when they need money and (worst of all) seem to have no shame in this fact.
Alao, county fairs do not have the money to pay for major acts. So, (unfortunately) the Foreigner/Styx/REO Speedwagon tour package serves this purpose…for better or worse!
Also, on the “dipping into the Lazarus pit” segment, I wish The Archies could reunite. But with Jughead’s food addiction, Archie’s and Reggie’s drug problems and the scandalous affair and bitter breakup between Betty and Veronica, it is just not in the cards.
