It’s an improvement over the second one, which isn’t saying much, but still is a very fun blockbuster filled with action, destruction, romance, robots, and Michael Bay once again letting loose on all the special effects and action there is to let loose. Good Review! Check out mine when you can!
I enjoyed the last hour or so (when they hit Chicago) but other than that the whole movie sucked. Yes it was better than Revenge of the Fallen, but for the sole reason that the last hour was action packed.
Beginning with Neal, agreed, awesome….3D, Amazing. There was one scene with Shia standing in the alley of some street in Chicago where I really felt the depth and height of the buildings….the Sears Tower (it will always be Sears) dive with the flying suits in 3D was by far the best use of that tech I’ve ever seen (even though Toy Story 3 and the re-release of 1 and 2 were great)….
The human element was miserable…the first hour is the worst hour of cinema I’ve seen since Don’t Mess With the Zohan. the next 20ish minutes was meh, and once the spaceship blows up I was like “ok well it’ll get better now that an explosion happened”…and boom, quick cuts show Chicago in rubble and until the abrupt ending it was insane 3D, great robot action, but they totally waste what is clearly a SEAL Team SIX coming out of the water like total badasses…they team up with Josh Dumahl for ONE big robot. Then it’s like characters are asking “where’s Optimus”…when a character asks what the audience is thinking it’s time for a re-write. Without a doubt the best special effects in 3D and the flying scene alone was worth a rental. But, I agree with the Jedi powers thing…it was hilarious.
“The first hour is the worst hour of cinema I’ve seen since Don’t Mess With the Zohan.” That is a brilliant line. Thanks for the comment, Vic.
