32 Days of Halloween V, Movie Night No. 4: Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (1931)

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931)

Our fourth movie night for 32 Days of Halloween has long been dedicated to black and white classics. Now we go to the Fredric March 1931 version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. It’s actually the eighth film adaptation of the book by Robert Louis Stevenson and directed by Rouben Mamoulian (The Mark of Zorro). March wound up winning the Oscar for his performance.

We’ve previously posted the silent 1920 John Barrymore-starring version plus other variations on the theme. Enjoy.

On Movie Night #4, we’ve previously had some fun with Tod Browning’s Freaks, then a double feature of Lon Chaney and Bela Lugosi, The Body Snatcher and last year, at last, The Ghoul.
