If there’s one thing I love, it’s the voice of Paul Frees. He handled everything from the Haunted Mansion to Hardware Wars to Earth vs. the Flying Saucers. But somehow I missed this. And it’s shown up in time to make the cut–and it’s fitting it closes out our short form stuff for 32 Days this year.
It’s his album, Paul Frees and the Poster People. I didn’t even know it existed, but it’s him singing in many of the voices he was known for doing impersonations of. I’ve snagged four for you to peruse: Peter Lorre, Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff and Sydney Greenstreet. The latter one made Rox chortle wildly, so there you have it.
This album is woefully out of print…which blows my mind, honestly. If you can find it for less than $20 on vinyl, snag it without thinking twice.

Previously on this day in 32 Days History, we’ve enjoyed a look at Phantom Manor and a star-studded episode of Route 66, a special episode of The Dating Game and Karloff for A-1 steak sauce, Vincent Price for kids plus Mr. Frees and some outtakes and Lon Chaney Jr. as Frankenstein live on TV.
Sounds quite similar the what he released for the filler tracks in the vinyl “soundtrack” album for The Abominable Dr. Phibes, released around 1971. (I snagged it on eBay a few years ago and was surprised to find only about six minutes of film music on it.)
