Music Monday: Yael Naim, Wonder Years, Intervision & More…

More music picks for your Monday. If you like what you hear, use the links provided to snag it for yourself from Amazon. Doing so through us gives us kickbacks, and those help pay for stuff like more bandwidth. And also so we can buy more music. Just note: any prices we quote are accurate as of when this post goes up.

Yael Naim
Wonder Years: Suburbia

[ad#shortpost]
We start off with Yael Naïm, and I had marked this track for inclusion a while back but for some reason I couldn’t seem to find anything embeddable. But here she is with a live version of “New Soul,” from her self-titled album:

Quite nice. Her album’s available as both a CD and MP3 download, but the CD is less than $5 right now. So.

You have to admire a band that’s named after a television show and yet takes the full title of its album, Suburbia: I’ve Given You All And Now I’m Nothing, from Ginsberg. Here’s “Don’t Let Me Cave In.”

The album’s available as both a CD and MP3 download, but the CD’s the same price so go for the physical copy IMO.

Intervision
Wiley: 100% Publishing

I first discovered Intervision with their excellent cover of Oingo Boingo’s “Dead Man’s Party” from the Boingo tribute album, Drink to Bones That Turn to Dust. Through the magic of Spotify, went looking for more and found it: this is from their self-titled album. It’s “One Trick Man.”

The CD is stupidly expensive, so if you want the album, the MP3 download is your best bet.

Speaking of finding stuff via Spotify, after getting locked into listening to Joker (see last week), I decided to explore more of the related music genres and sub-genres and so forth. Grime is what came across and Wiley, who I’ve run into before and enjoyed. But here’s something from his latest, 100% Publishing. It’s “Boom Boom Da Na.” Terrifically entertaining.

It’s available as both a CD and MP3 download, but the MP3 is boatloads cheaper. So there you have it.

Beat Seeking Missiles: Break My Fall
Platinum Pied Pipers: Abundance

One sure fire way to get my attention is to name your B-side after one of my favorite Peter Sellers films. And hey, the full title of the single appears to be “Break My Fall/Doctor Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Beat Seeking Missiles.” Yeah, I’m definitely in.

Sadly, the single’s not available in the U.S. yet, it seems. Although here’s a Spotify link if you need to tide yourself over.

If you, like me, can’t get enough of funk, horns and badass female vocalists, then check out “On a Cloud” from PPP (aka the Platinum Pied Pipers). I’m such a sucker for this stuff. That’s because it’s fantastic.

That’s from their 2009 album Abundance and it’s available as both an MP3 download and CD, but the MP3 is a lot cheaper from Amazon.
