I thought the raccoon was a nod to the idea that rabies is what killed him? (I was trying to make it make sense that way, anyway.)
Wash: Cosette said the same thing. The humor was too subtle for me, I guess. I just imagined Poe and the raccoon fighting crime together. Or something. Thanks for the comment.
Even though I thought it might be a nod to the rabies thing, I also thought it was stupid because 1)after a couple of scenes with the raccoon, it disappeared completely for the rest of the film, never to be mentioned again and b) there was no other rabies connection in the film at all. Just sad.
Ugh! This was a movie i was looking forward to when i first heard about it a year or so ago, because, as you pointed out, it could be fun. I wasn’t expecting great, but i want FUN. As it go closer to release, and i heard NO publicity and saw no commercials for it (and i AM John Cusack’s demographic, i mean look at me!) i started getting uneasy. I didn’t even KNOW this had come out until i saw the wayhomer. To hear of the fail on so many levels makes me sad. I suspect that the last great Cusack role will have been Martin Blank.
You were great as Cusack’s stunt double on Grosse Pointe Blank, BTW, Serv.
