Burgess, Leonard and Ray: There Will Come Soft Rains

Burgess Meredith Reads Ray Bradbury

You might recall we’ve previously posted a Russian animated short film based on Ray Bradbury’s “There Will Come Soft Rains.” Now, though, we get Burgess Meredith giving a reading of the story from the Burgess Meredith Reads Ray Bradbury album from 1962. (The B-side was “Marionettes, Inc.”)

[ad#shortpost]

The story was collected in The Martian Chronicles and has been adapted and recorded multiple times. And because we can, here’s Leonard Nimoy giving his interpretation of it. This was released in 1975.

Both albums are quite out of print and the readings, oddly, have never been collected or re-issued. Not even as an MP3 bundle. Therefore, if you want them, then *cough* Google is your friend.

Martian Chronicles is available from Amazon in paperback.

  • Nice selection. This short reminds me of a good and supremely dark Tom & Jerry cartoon, or a twisted Rube Goldberg invention.
