The band is from Norway: Kaizers Orchestra, about to play their first and last show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in May. As you can see by this music video for “Begravelsespolka,” they’re completely and utterly mental. And I love it. This is from their album Violeta Violeta Volume III. Next we have Thumpers out of London and their song, “Sound of Screams,” which makes me happy even though I’m not quite sure what’s going on. Just like this music video. Not sure what’s going on. And I wish I could point you to where you could buy it…but I came up empty. I tried to go their official site and was greeted with an autoplay video. Bad Thumpers, bad. But it’s okay: this is tasty.

I was originally and admittedly drawn to The Venetia Fair because I’m a sucker for a great album title. And Every Sick, Disgusting Thought We’ve Got in Our Brain ranks up there. This is “Only in the Morning.” Now I’m even more drawn in because on their Facebook page they state, “We’re a band called The Venetia Fair and we have no fucking clue what we’re doing.” What’s not to like? The MP3 bundle is available from Amazon.

And a new album from They Might Be Giants is always something to note. And from what I’ve heard of it thus far, it strikes me as more of a throwback to earlier TMBG stuff. But that could just be me and my utter lack of sleep. It’s Nanobots and the track I’ve grabbed is “Stone Cold Coup d’Etat.” Enjoy. (Amazon: CD; MP3.)

Next we have The Paper Kites, a band out of Melbourne that makes lovely bits like this track from their new EP, Young North. It’s “Paint.” (Amazon: MP3.)

And we end this week with an older track–another of those phantom things that just finds its way to my iPod through arcane means. It’s the simple yet effective “Strange Parallels” by Tripswitch from the 2010 album Geometry. Nice zone-out and type-faster music. Which I can always use some more of. (Amazon: MP3.)
