Stuff You Need to Know: Comic-Con Fallout Edition

Very quickly, because some of us have lives…the high points from this past weekend. The stuff you actually do need to know. More fallout, I’m certain, is coming. Sort of like winter. But the fallout won’t take several books. Count on it.

  • Before you get all excited about World’s Finest (or whatever they end up calling it), just remember: we’ve been here before. And the fact that they’re doing this instead of Man of Steel 2 and then leading on into Justice League says to me that they have very little confidence in the road they’re on. Also, Christian Bale said he was out–but that might just be him asking for more money. Who knows? Regardless, it is way too early to start lining up for it. Fancy logo or not. Source.

  • Nothing to do with Comic-Con, but it’s a good deal. So. Amazon has the complete series of MASH plus the movie available for $79.99. Available today only and until they run out.

  • So Jamie Foxx is Electro and his Amazing Spider-Man 2 look has been revealed. And all I can think about is that the guy has gotten severe frostbite and I want to give him a mug of steaming hot coffee.

    • Dexter: Complete Series Amazon Packaging

  • The final season of Dexter has been announced for November 5th, as well as the complete series boxed set–which will have exclusive bonus bits on a separate disc. And as you can see up there, the Amazon-exclusive packaging has the discs rising up out of a head. Nice. That’s available in either DVD or Blu-Ray, according to the press release–but the DVD version isn’t available for pre-order apparently. The regular packaging has a box not unlike the specimen/trophy case. It’s also available in both flavors: DVD and Blu-Ray. As is the Final Season–DVD and Blu-Ray.

  • Game of Thrones provided this mostly tongue-in-cheek “in memoriam” film as a trailer for Season 4. Well played.

    Snake Eyes G.I. Joe Retaliation 3D

  • G.I. Joe Retaliation hits July 30th on both DVD and Blu-Ray. No, it wasn’t very good. But it has made the following possible: Ray Park, as Snake Eyes (aka The American Stig), is going to throw out the first pitch at the Oakland As vs. Toronto Blue Jays game at Oakland Coliseum on July 30th. If he fights off two ninjas in order to make the pitch, then I might just purchase the movie. Pre-order it on DVD, Blu-Ray or Blu-Ray 3D here.

    • Hannibal Season 1 Blu-Ray

  • The first season of Hannibal has been announced for September 24th. You can pre-order the Blu-Ray and the DVD from Amazon. It’s coming with featurettes, audio commentaries, a gag reel, deleted scenes and an unaired episode.

  • Also, this Red Band Kick-Ass 2 trailer shows promise:

  • Marvel lit the place on fire with apparently some badass Captain America 2 footage, also badass Guardians of the Galaxy footage, and Tom Hiddleston in character as Loki taking on the crowd. Brilliant. There was also Thor 2 footage and the geekboy trauma that was Karen Gillan pulling off her wig to reveal she’s shaved her red hair away for Guardians. And the reveal that Avengers 2 is Avengers: Age of Ultron. (But no Hank Pym. Interesting.) io9 has details. It all sounds insane. And considering how much I enjoyed Iron Man 3, I think Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is just fine.

    Oh, Tom. You goddamn badass. You’re killing us.

  • The Walking Dead trailer was the first trailer of anything to have been officially released post-Comic-Con. Hell, I haven’t even seen any unofficial ones, so they must have had the lid on tight. Regardless, Season 4 has the potential for major badassery.

    Since now we have two Wire alumni, Chad Coleman and Larry Gilliard, Jr., does anybody else — assuming we make it that far — want to see Idris Elba as Ezekiel?

  • io9 gives you the play by play for X-Men: Days of Future Past, including confirmation that Peter Dinklage is playing Bolivar Trask. If you want the short version, it’s this: everybody and his brother Bob is in the damn cast. And it has promise, but of course they might be just playing with us.
