Widge:
This is one of the first times I’ve disagreed with you about a film. The visuals were gorgeous, yeah, yeah, but I really couldn’t bring myself to care about Bullock or the rest of the characters. And while they do a good job of “Hollywood realism” in space, my day job in aerospace made me call BS on a couple of occasions. Visually impressive, but it didn’t make an emotional impression on me. I don’t think I need to see it again, and that’s my problem with it. Three cans of Diet Dr. Pepper from me.
Glad you enjoyed it, though.

Sorry you didn’t dig it. As for me, on the topic of “Hollywood Realism”–when it’s a huge thing to actually see explosions happen without sound in space–when No Sound is a basic principle of, you know, Being In Space–then other stretches are (again, just for me), easier to forgive. As for not needing to see films again–that’s actually a good thing, ticket prices being what they are. :-)
I agree. Fantastic film. Loved Sandra Bullock. I think she walked a tight rope in the best way possible. She gave some heart to a tech film, but not so much to distract from that film.
Perfect.
