32 Days of Halloween IX, Day 17: Dracula AD 1972!

Dracula AD 1972

So as we enter the second half of our seasonal extravaganza, we come to footage of an event that I really do need to do someday. It’s on The List. It’s the Procession of the Ghouls, which takes place every year at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. They show a classic film (this year it’s The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari), followed by exactly what it says on the tin. The footage is from last year’s and it’s very dark and shaky, but it’s the best I could find. You should definitely check out our first entry on this, as it shows a mini-docu about it. Nothing about this looks non-awesome.

If you’re in the New York area and want to check it out, first of all: damn you to hell. Second, it’s happening Friday, October 28th this year and you can snag tickets here.

For tonight, we bring back Christopher Lee as Dracula and Peter Cushing as Van Helsing for the Hammer attempt to bring the Count current: Dracula AD 1972. First of all, this title is odd because if you had the title as just Dracula 1972, I doubt anyone would demand their money back because they expected the setting to be 1972 BC. In fact, I was unable to unearth (no pun intended) any event of significance in 1972 BC, so I don’t know how that would even work, even if you threw time travel into the mix.

But I digress. Not exactly a jewel in the franchise’s crown, it’s some impressive queso. Enjoy.
