32 Days of Halloween XII, Day 31: Captain Clegg!

Captain Clegg

The penultimate night of 32 Days of Halloween XII is upon us! Before we get to the Big Day itself, we’ll start with an absolutely fantastic cover: it’s “Sympathy for the Devil” by Motörhead. It’s the last song Lemmy recorded with the band before his death. And what a song to go out on. It kicks some serious demonic arse.

Then I think we should take a breather with this, the original Gary Larson’s Tales from the Far Side from 1994. Because sometimes you need the macabre in a way that only cows can provide.

Our film tonight is Peter Cushing in 1962’s Hammer film, Captain Clegg. Clegg is a pirate captain who’s finally been brought to justice…supposedly. But who’s buried in Clegg’s grave? And how are the locals engaged in smuggling? And what’s the deal with the Marsh Phantoms, those freaky riders on horseback? One way to find out…
