Comments on this: just one. Add your own. ![]() Welcome to Monday. But things could always be worse. You could be in this episode of The Twilight Zone, which has one of my favorite TZ endings ever. Direct link for the feedreaders. This and all the other episodes are available on the Complete Definitive Collection. Which is pricey, but I own it myself and damn, if it's not worth it. So I wanted to grab some more along those lines. While I couldn't find anything at first on the Castle side of things, I was able to go down another path. I desperately wanted to post this last year but couldn't find a version in proper widescreen. This appears to be that version. Before Will Smith. Before Charlton Heston. There was Mr. Vincent Price. He is The Last Man on Earth. Categorized as: 32 Days of Halloween

Comments on this: none yet. Add your own. ![]() This is a bit of weird thing for me, because when I was a lad, sometime around the year 1621, I thought the "Monster Mash" was sung by Boris Karloff. And then I found out it was actually by Bobby Pickett. And now to learn that Boris performed it on a Halloween special? Wild. Sadly, there's apparently no known extant video of that performance--but this guy snagged it on a reel to reel. For you kids out there, just imagine a cassette tape but blown up real big. What's a cassette tape, you ask? Look, go to hell, okay? BTW, Rox led us to this. This video, I mean, not you kids going to hell. Categorized as: 32 Days of Halloween

Add your own. ![]() Since last year at this time we were all huddled around the computer monitor watching The Deadly Mantis, I wanted to keep with the theme of ginormous things trying to wreak havoc. And what should I find but that film that puts an "Oh shit!" on the lips of males everywhere: the mostly non-sensical classic Attack of the 50 Foot Woman! Awesome! Update: Sadly, for whatever reason, the embed code has stopped working...though you can still go directly to LiveVideo and watch it there. Categorized as: 32 Days of Halloween

That's Romney Brent in the role of Montresor and Bela Lugosi as Fortunato. And yes, that's Ray Walston as one of the American GIs. It's almost endearing how much like a high school drama production this is. Hell, it's worth watching for the Auto Lite sponsorship commercial at the beginning. Although I sorta can't forgive them for leaving out my favorite line. This episode is available on Suspense: The Lost Episodes, Collection 2 from Infinity Entertainment. The show was based on a radio program of the same name. You can find it on the Internet Archive as well. The blog Escape and Suspense! features this show as well as the show Escape, if the name didn't already give that away. Categorized as: 32 Days of Halloween

The best I can do for the moment is a recreated version of the lost Tod Browning work, London After Midnight from 1927, pulled from still images. It clocks in at 45 minutes. That's Lon Chaney Sr. with the whacked out makeup job. Direct link for the feedreaders. Categorized as: 32 Days of Halloween

Add your own. ![]() Looking at what we were watching this time last year, the Dracula vs. Frankenstein trailer, I thought we could take a look at some horror bits that include fights. Because when you've got great creatures, you might as well make them smack one another. Right? Case in point: Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man. Lon Chaney Jr. is back as the Wolf Man, but it's Bela Lugosi and not Karloff who's the monster. This is available as part of that Wolf Man Legacy Series DVD I told you to pick up. It's good eating. Add your own. ![]() Rox, who's been monitoring all Halloweenie activities from the relative safety (from satellites, anyway) of Spazhouse, has been immensely helpful in our 32 Days of Halloween PART 2 festivities. And what do we have for this evening's viewing? 1960's Horror Hotel (aka City of the Dead) starring megabadass Christopher Lee. This film was directed by John Llewellyn Moxey, who did a lot of Murder, She Wrote and Magnum much later in his career. The IMDB lists a remake as being in the works, but with a release date of this year. It better hurry. And last year at this time we were watching The Thing From Another World!
