New Image Linking Policy

Okay, folks. For those of you who are using images from our site, please proceed. The rest of you can talk amongst yourselves.

Hi. I've never wanted to be one of those dickheads who did something like block people from using our images off our server. Because, at the time, it wasn't that big of a deal. It's real easy to put up some code that won't fulfill requests from servers that aren't needcoffee.com. But, like I said, I never wanted to do that.

The good news is this: I'm still not going to do that.

However...

Excluding Press Releases From Regular Feed
Posted on 10.23.07 by Widge @ 4:16 pm

Hi. A bit of stepping out from behind the curtain here. We've got a press release section which we keep off the front page because it's just not front page stuff. You know, unless we make it front page stuff. Anyway, after moving to Wordpress 2.3 the tool that we used to keep the wall between regular content and press release content wasn't supported anymore. I think we may have a replacement now, so this post is partly to let you feedreaders know that we're not trying to bombard you with that stuff on purpose, and partly as a test to see if the damn thing's working. If it does work for what we need, I shall come back here and praise the plugin's creator.

If it doesn't work...we shall never speak of this again.

Update: No, instead of removing the Press Releases categories from the feed, it inexplicably removed all the posts from the last day. So no, that didn't quite work. Oh well. Back to the drawing board.

Well, That Was Fun

Dwight from Sin City meets a grenade

Hi. Did you miss us?

Okay, here's the short version: we moved to a virtual private server that sadly wasn't as stable for us as the shared hosting we were (and are now back) on. It seemed like a perfectly wonderful idea at the time, is all I can say.

I'll be posting a longer version filled with as much technical garbage as I can muster over on my personal blog. The first bit of it is already up here.

FYI: Buy Your Amazon MP3s Here
Posted on 10.16.07 by Widge @ 2:19 am

Here at Needcoffee, we try to differentiate ourselves from all the other millions of websites out there that you could be wasting your time on (since we want you to waste your time here). Part of how we do this is that we love you. Other websites just want you for your body, but we love you for who you are as a person. Honest.

The other thing is that we are honest. Whereas lots of other websites will beat around the bush about how you, the readers, can make them money--we just come right out and tell you the truth: we want your cash. All websites want your cash, mind you, but we at least are up front about it. And we try to make it painless for you to give us your cash by setting it up so you can do it through things you would do anyway. Like purchase things from Amazon.

And now that you can buy MP3s from Amazon, we urge you, if you were going to do that anyway, to do so through us (you can click that image up there, even). Why? Because we get kickbacks. And kickbacks mean we can afford more coffee. And more coffee means more content and more ways for you to avoid work and sleep by coming here to the site.

Anyway, that's our shill for today. Thank you kindly for listening. We now return you to your irregularly non-scheduled whatever the hell it is we do here.
