Even as surreal and non-sensical as this is, it's still miles ahead of anything J. Michael Straczynski did to the character.

How We Met

Most animators really get into their work. And some people take this notion to extremes. Extremes that the rest of us sit back and admire. Showing here:

Yes, in case you were wondering, it's a video that's supposed to be viral in support of the Samsung G800. Stop motion appears to be the advertising animation technique of choice, I guess.

Okay, I wasn't actually going to post this but then the "Crossing the Delaware" bit just about broke me. So. Here you go.

The Gerald McBoing Boing Saga
Posted on 11.04.07 by Widge @ 2:09 am

Finding the fourth cartoon on Saturday Morning Blog, I was curious to see if I could find all four. There's the first animated short from from 1950, based on the story by Dr. Seuss. Then three shorts followed it: "Gerald McBoing Boing's Symphony," "How Now Boing Boing," and then "Gerald McBoing Boing on the Planet Moo," which is the one I'm most familiar with for some odd reason.

I was able to find everything online but "Symphony," and that's the second one. So here's chapters one, three and four in the McBoing Boing saga, for your amusement:

Pixar's Toy Story Zoetrope
Posted on 10.13.07 by Widge @ 2:13 am

A fascinating method of animation here, and I've picked the YouTube video that appears to show the most information: these are 3-D models that are in different poses. When they start spinning up, it just looks like a jumbled mess, especially with video compression going, but then the strobe kicks in. And you can see what happens next. Pretty amazing stuff.
