09.30.08 by Widge @ 12:15 am Halloween is too big to be contained by October alone. And you thought that last time was it. That it was safe. Secure. Comfortable. Haven't we always warned you to fear sequels? Welcome to 32 Days of Halloween PART 2. This time last year, we had Mickey Mouse to kick us off. So it seems only fair to begin with a classic bit of Bugs. Direct link for the feedreaders. Incidentally, while you're prepping yourself for Halloween goodness, make sure you check out this poll from our amigo Len at Jawbone Radio. He needs your help to choose between two images in the holiday spirit. No pun intended. Categorized as: Animation

09.18.08 by Widge @ 3:33 am Film: Written by: Christopher Yost Features:
Released by: Lionsgate My Advice: Rent it for the kiddies The Avengers are no more. Ultron (voiced by Kane) decided to take care of his foes once and for all…and did. He killed them good. The only one to escape was Tony Stark/Iron Man (also voiced by Kane) and he took with them the Avengers' kids. You’ve got: James (Crawford), the son of Captain America and Black Widow; Torunn (O'Brien), daughter of Thor; Pym (Drummond), the son of guess who; and Azari (Pappion), the son of the Black Panther and An Unnamed Non-Avenger Mother Who Probably Wasn’t Named Due to Rights Issues. They've had sanctuary for the majority of their young lives--but that's about to change. Categorized as: Animation and Reviews

09.06.08 by Widge @ 6:13 pm Bill Melendez is an animator who everybody knows: he was responsible for bringing us the animated version of Charles Schulz' Peanuts. Here's Steven Fischer, creator of Steve and Bluey, talking about Melendez' influence on him--and I think he speaks even for us non-animators about the wonders of seeing these great comic strip characters put into motion. 08.18.08 by Widge @ 1:00 pm ![]() Here's a new timesuck from Paul Dini (who writes a damn fine Batman), Misty Lee (who performs some damn fine magic) and their sock monkeys (who get into trouble quite a bit). All the members of their family are now animated characters on GoAnimate.com. And you can create your own animations starring them--all you have to do is sign up for free with the site. If you haven't met Rashy and his family, you should check out their official site. And if you didn't get the Colorforms joke then...ask your parents. Categorized as: Animation

08.09.08 by Widge @ 6:28 am So Paul sent me the second part of this and it got me thinking about Saturday morning...how it used to be cartoons all morning. But what if you had a Saturday morning cartoon lineup right after the incident of the Tower of Babel? (Yes, I really do think like this.) I've tried to find some classic cartoon bits jumbled up with various languages, so even our friends from across the ponds will be lost on at least one. First, Flash Gordon in Spanish. "No me gusta Flash Gordon, ja ja ja! Ay--un hombre de león!" "El grrrr!" Direct link for the feedreaders. If any of these turn out to be the foreign language equivalents of "I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!" then you have my apologies... Categorized as: Animation and Stimuli
