01.24.08 by Widge @ 6:23 pm  Disney is reworking both Toy Story and Toy Story 2 into 3-D. You can expect the 3-D Toy Story to hit Octobe 2, 2009, the 3-D Toy Story 2 to hit February 12, 2010 and then the brand spanking new inherently 3-D Toy Story 3. Now, the first thing you might recall is that back when Disney was going to do Toy Story 3 without Pixar (before their Vulcan mind meld--or, if not a Vulcan mind meld, then some strange version of this--right down to the opening line, "It seemed like a good idea at the time") they were going to do it 3-D then too. The obvious question you might ask me is, "Widge, am I pleased or frightened?" And my answer is: hellifiknow. First up, Disney has this hideous track record of recent years and we're all extremely gun shy thanks to amount of crap they've released. I was afraid they would overpower Pixar with their suck factor. Categorized as: Animation

01.16.08 by Widge @ 5:16 am The Neil points out that somebody shot the Coraline trailer, apparently from the audience. This is a 3-D trailer and naturally shooting from what I guess was a phone camera isn't going to give you the same effect, but as he also points out--when people are oohing that probably means "3-D shot." Bear in mind this trailer, even in 3-D, is nowhere near as creepy as the movie itself should be. So. Categorized as: Animation

Case in point: somebody's created a listing of all the ACME products featured in various Warner Brothers cartoons. We don't know where you found the time, but bless you regardless. Right after posting the bit about Rick Baker and The War of the Worlds trailer, I find that Dan Goodsell has posted some stills from his collection: they're of "Mars and Beyond," the classic sci-fi animated Disney bit that we've talked about before. If you don't already have the Tomorrowland release from the Walt Disney Treasures line of DVDs, you should snag it, because it has that cartoon and much more. Categorized as: Animation
