Wacky Brit E-Mail Stalker Denied Entry to U.S.?

Chortle mentions that Russell Brand, comedian and one-half of the Goth Detectives, has been denied entry to the United States and sent back to the UK. All he was trying to do was get on the David Letterman show to promote Forgetting Sarah Marshall. And you might know Russell from when we’ve mentioned him before, and you might be thinking: “Him? Good God, what in the world do we have to fear from him?”

But we have to wonder: was it perhaps this that got him in trouble?

Update: The clip has been taken down, alas.

That might have been a thinly veiled attempt to post a clip. Might.

John Landis on The Fall of the Roman Empire

I know this is a while back on the Trailers From Hell, but there’s just something about the sheer glee Landis has in talking about this epic bad movie that gives me great joy. Which is one of the human emotions promised in this trailer–so I guess that’s a win.

And now I can’t wait to see the film either…but it doesn’t appear to be in print anywhere, much less in Region 1? Shame.

Feed the Kitty: Now I Have Seen Everything

The person at VideoSift who posted this calls it Chuck Jones’ best cartoon, and it’s sort of hard to argue. Once you get into the best of Chuck Jones, it’s hard to put them into any sense of order. I just love his stuff. And is there anyone who doesn’t remember poor Marc Antony’s wailing and gnashing of teeth from this? Just priceless.

This is available on DVD in the Looney Tunes Golden Collection, Vol. 1. With commentary. Click here to buy it from Amazon.

Update: Alas, the vid has been removed.

Threadless Bingo!

Threadless Bingo

It’s no secret that we dig Threadless around here. And we’re not alone. Seems like it’s hard to go out anywhere amongst people and not run into somebody wearing a Threadless tee. And it’s cool. Because they dig it when you say, “Nice t-shirt.” Because they know that you know.

Greg over at Fantastic Blognanza came up with the concept of Threadless Bingo: sort of like bingo but instead of… never mind, what’s to explain? It’s Bingo.

Anyway, the point is this: now you too can play Threadless Bingo thanks to his handy dandy Threadless Bingo Card Generator that slaps together a bunch of t-shirt images on demand. Nifty.

Update: Alas, Fantastic Blognanza appears to have gone the way of all flesh.

Score Your Christmas Bonus With Mattel Electronics

Check the Cool Wax is on a mission to dig up some more pieces of commercial retro gold for all of our favorite toys of yesteryear. An example is the advert below for Mattel Electronics. Doesn’t it just take you back?

And to think, today a Nintendo DS has more computing power in it than we used to go to the Moon. Go figure.

Update: Alas, the vid is down.

For more great retro adverts, check Check the Cool Wax.
