04.11.07 by Widge @ 12:56 am ![]() Justine Cooper went behind the scenes at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, as its first artist-in-residence, to take pics of lots of stuff that the museum has in storage. You get everything from 19th century circus seals sitting up in the attic to a dinosaur skull just sort of hanging out on a cabinet shelf. It's the still photographic equivalent of that most excellent BBC series, Take One Museum. Check out some pics online here. Categorized as: Art

04.07.07 by Widge @ 1:49 am ![]() Sherrod Drawings offers something that the Who freaks among you might want to get framed: plans for your very own Metropolitan Police Call Box. Granted, it's not plans for a TARDIS per se, in that it's not larger inside than out, but still. You have to start somewhere. Categorized as: Art

04.01.07 by Widge @ 8:24 am ![]() Danny Elfman score + great Flash site (rarity!) + incredibly bizarre artwork that's like the best bits of Jon J. Muth, Dave McKean and, yes, a touch of Jamie Smart as well = art gold. Go now. Categorized as: Art

03.23.07 by Widge @ 12:23 am ![]() Some excellent stuff here. For some reason a lot of it reminds me of what would happen if you spliced together the DNA of Kent Williams and Amano. All the haunted reflection and movement of the first with all the ethereal fantasy elements of the second. I dig it. Categorized as: Art

03.17.07 by Widge @ 8:47 am ![]() After illustrating John Hodgman's 700 Hoboes, those wacky artist types want to do more. According to Boing Boing, they're working on 700 categories of 700 entries each. Maniacs. While the 700 Underwear Clad Vigilante Mutants list sounds fascinating, you know what we've got to go with: 700 Zombies. Check out the images as they show up here. Pictured: Jawboneradio's interpretation of "Mmrgh," #13 on the list. Categorized as: Art
