07.15.07 by Widge @ 5:38 am ![]() Of course, what they don't tell you about this is that the barcode on this chandelier is really for a package of Twinkies. So when you try to get out of the store through the self-checkout, and you put the chandelier on the scale, it keeps saying the weight doesn't match. If that doesn't stop you, the security guards asking to see your receipt sure will. They sell the same one over and over that way. Genius. Categorized as: Art

07.14.07 by Widge @ 9:11 pm ![]() While this doesn't appear to be the same bloodthirsty beast that was recently spotted facing off with the Mighty Samson...I mean, just look at it: it's horn got covered in red somehow, didn't it? It's obvious this beast was killed in self defense. Case closed. Categorized as: Art

07.14.07 by Widge @ 7:38 pm ![]() Brass Goggles turns us onto the work of Tim Baker, who's got many, many things we like. He's apparently worked on gear based on the Narnia films, makeup for television, all kinds of wicked stuff. Here's a sampling: First up, check that out on the right there. Well, your right, my left. It's one of four prop books he's posted to his gallery. Honestly, Doc, doesn't that look a helluva lot like the hardback Collected Alhzared you have down in the library? Wild. Check out some more of Tim's stuff after the break. Categorized as: Art

07.13.07 by Widge @ 12:44 pm ![]() I love the work of Lisa Snellings. Always have. However, being a webmaster, I can't afford the work of Lisa Snellings. Although The Neil informs us that there are options. She's made some new blue poppets that are for sale for prices even I can afford, and according to The Neil she's donating a dollar to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund for each one sold. Nice. Find them and some of her other stuff here. Tell her we said hi. P.S. The Neil also points out in the same posting that there are Good Omens scents now. I guess our timing was good, yes? 07.13.07 by Widge @ 1:26 am ![]() Yes, that's a 2000 postage stamp from the UK, part of the Fortean Times' round-up of great extra-terrestrial-themed stampage. If you used some of the grey alien stamps to mail something to Travis Walton, would that be considered cruel and unusual? Categorized as: Art

07.09.07 by Widge @ 4:17 am ![]() Okay, we lied. It was really made for the live action Iron Giant remake. What, you don't buy that? Okay, how about a Terminator sequel-prequel where they try to go after John Connor's grandmother instead of his mom? Nope? Okay, fine. It's a homemade Terminator sculpture somebody made. Spoilsport. 07.07.07 by Widge @ 1:10 am ![]() Kent Rogowski has gotten it into his head that taking something else somebody has created--in this case, a teddy bear--and turning it inside out (like in that Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode) is art. That's all well and good, but this dangerous notion of cute stuffed animals being mutilated is one he wants to spread: However, I would be very happy if I inspired young children to liberate their teddy bears by turning them inside out. What? WTF is wrong with people these days? GAH, I say. Next they'll want to "liberate" their living hamsters! Clap that man in irons! It's like a fucking Island of Dr. Plush Moreau for God's sake! Madness! Categorized as: Art
