Caffeine Proven To Help Ward Off The Evil Dayball

Shower Shock Soap from Thinkgeek

Slashfood points us to this article from the BBC, where it's revealed that "A combination of exercise and caffeinated water reduced the skin-damaging effects of ultra-violet radiation in experiments on mice." Which apparently jacked up the mice's defenses against cancer about 400%. And check this out: "The relationship between caffeine and cancer cells is under close scrutiny following evidence that it can increase a process called 'apoptosis', in which the body gets rid of damaged or even cancerous cells by killing them off."

And so what you've always known is true. The Sun = evil. Caffeine = good. The battleground = your body. At this rate, with the amount of caffeine I consume, I probably not only have hardcore anti-cancer action going on, but I no doubt radiate that protection to people in my general vicinity, I have so much protection in my system.

Of course, the concept of caffeine sparing you from the evil effects of The Dayball aren't news. Here's back in 2002 where they talked about caffeinated lotions helping against skin cancer.

Playboy Energy Drink: Why Party Like a Rockstar When You Can Party Like El Hef?
Posted on 07.19.07 by Widge @ 8:16 pm
The Women of Starbucks from Playboy

Well, Playboy has been no stranger to the stimulant-loving demographic. After all, they have been stimulating men for decades. And, speaking as one of the three males on the planet who actually read the magazine part of the magazine, the articles and interviews are actually very interesting.

Now, BevBlog tells us that we will soon see a Playboy Energy Drink. They joke that the secret ingredient is Viagra, but we beg to differ: it's obviously a serious secret, but whatever it is, they had to lower Hef's supply of it during development of the drink. We know this because he did, after all, downsize from twenty-four girlfriends to just three.

Caffeinated Jell-O Shots: Best Gelatin Dessert Ever!

Caffeinated Jell-O shots

Back when I used to drink, Jell-O shots were a fun and tasty way of consuming alcohol.

Granted, back when I used to drink, there were few ways to consume alchohol that I did not consider fun and tasty, but alas, those were the days.

Now, just in time for our American readers' July 4th celebrations: a recipe for creating buzz-worthy Jell-O shots is here, with the option to throw in some B-12 for good measure. Excellent! Fireworks and caffeine--two great tastes that taste great together!

Energy Fiend caffeine calculator

It's always impressive when something good gets downright better. Energy Fiend has updated their caffeine database so you can tally up your intake on any given day and see just how much of the substance of the gods you have consumed. Be forewarned, though: you probably won't be able to top Robbie Williams.

Protect Yourself From Caffeine With Llamas
Posted on 05.25.06 by Widge @ 8:05 am

Apparently there are some misfortunes out there in the world who can't screw around with caffeine. You have our condolences. You also apparently have a new gee whiz thing coming that will let you slake your paranoia about encountering the stuff. They're going to have strips that will detect caffeine, using an antibody found in llama blood. And no, we're not kidding, read the story here.

Now the only problem is it won't tell you how much caffeine is present. To be perfectly truthful, I had a deal worked out where my blood was going to be used to do that, but after a clinical trial that looked like that "blood test" scene in The Thing the whole matter was dropped. I was pissed.
