Here's what they have to say for themselves: Theirs was the wedding nobody wanted to see… Camille (Miller), the sweetest girl in all of Kentucky, just married the only man she has ever loved, Silas (Franco), a bad boy with a sordid past. The problem is Silas could care less about Camille and is hoping to use their "fantasy" honeymoon as a way to escape parole and flee to Canada. But on the way to Niagara Falls, events take a sudden, unexpected turn when their motorcycle collides with a passing truck. Camille pulls herself from the wreckage and seems unscathed, but soon Silas discovers that perhaps she didn't survive the accident after all. It's a long, winding road to happily ever after, and Camille is convinced that Niagara Falls will change Silas for the better. She may be right. Something magical is happening to both of them, and now Camille won't let anything stand in the way of their life together… not even her own mortality!

09.13.09 by Widge @ 4:29 am Comments on this: nada. Add your own. ![]() It's the 20th anniversary of The Stone Roses' self-titled album and Sony's got a Legacy Edition out that's a double CD, single DVD affair. Here's what they have to say for themselves: Meshing simple, exceedingly catchy hooks with rhythmic beats, The Stones Roses led the UK's so-called "Madchester" scene straight into the U.S. with their eponymous debut. The Stone Roses achieved one of the most successful fusions of classic pop songwriting and acid house culture, and managed to snare fans from both genres. By the end of 1989, their debut had landed on many a top-ten list for that year; NME even declared it "The Greatest Album Of All Time."
Though the band never realized the same triumphs on their second, and final album, repercussions of their debut album's classic pop songwriting and bright riffs could be heard well into the next decade; scores of similar UK artists, including Oasis and Travis, owe their success and popularity in no small part to this seminal album which shaped a future genre of danceable, contemporary 60s-rooted pop music. Indeed, twenty years later, the album's impact is still felt, demonstrating an influence across music, fashion, politics, and art to this day. They've sent us a spare copy to give away to you fine folks. Want to win it? Simple--just enter using the form below--and enter once a day--and if we draw your name when the contest ends, you win. 09.11.09 by Widge @ 5:28 pm Comments on this: nada. Add your own. ![]() Fringe is out with its first season on DVD from Warner Home Video. Here's what they have to say for themselves: From J.J. Abrams (Lost), Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (the team behind Star Trek, Mission: Impossible III and Alias) and executive producers Jeff Pinkner and Bryan Burk (both of Lost and Alias), Fringe revolves around three unlikely colleagues – a beautiful, young and determined FBI agent (Anna Torv), a brilliant but off-the-wall scientist (John Noble), and his sardonic, roguish son (Joshua Jackson) – who team up to investigate a series of peculiar deaths and disasters known as "The Pattern." The trio suspects that someone is using the world as a laboratory. And many of the clues lead them to Massive Dynamic, a shadowy global corporation that may be more powerful than any nation. Season 1 also starred Lance Reddick, Kirk Acevedo, Blair Brown, Jasika Nicole and Mark Valley. Fringe is from Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
We've got three copies of the set to give away. And each one comes with close to six hours of special features. Want to win one? Easy. Just enter using the form below and enter once a day. And if we draw your name when the contest ends, then you win. Good luck! Categorized as: Contests

09.01.09 by Widge @ 4:50 am Comments on this: nada. Add your own. ![]() I must admit I hadn't heard of this before I received the outreach from E1 Entertainment. But Martin Freeman playing Rembrandt in a movie by Peter Greenaway? Hell, that sounds fantastic. (But can somebody please put Prospero's Books out on DVD? Please?) Anyway, to get a taste of it, here's a trailer. Please be aware this is a Peter Greenaway film, so the trailer will no doubt contain nakedness if not outright lustful machinations. So NSFW trailer, in other words. Direct link for the feedreaders. We've got five copies of the 2-disc set to give away. One of those is reserved for our gold sponsors. To find out more about that, please click here. But if you want to win the usual way, you enter using the form below--and enter once a day. And if we draw your name when the contest ends, you win.
