08.16.09 by Widge @ 2:35 am Comments on this: nada. Add your own. ![]() The animated film Delgo is new to DVD from Fox. Here's what they have to say for themselves: When a rebellious boy forms a forbidden friendship with a spunky princess, hostilities between their two kingdoms escalate, setting the stage for an exiled Empress to exact her revenge in Delgo. Starring a talented voice cast including Freddie Prinze Jr. (Scooby Doo), Jennifer Love Hewitt (Ghost Whisperer), Val Kilmer (The Doors), Chris Kattan (Saturday Night Live), Kelly Ripa (Live with Regis and Kelly), Anne Bancroft (The Graduate) in her final film appearance, Lou Gossett Jr. (An Officer and a Gentleman) and Burt Reynolds (Smokey and the Bandit) among others, Delgo takes place in a magical world where two civilizations, divided by fear, and two hearts, guided by love, have one chance to save their world. With the help of a devious traitor and two bumbling servants, an exiled Empress (Bancroft) kidnaps the Nohrin princess (Hewitt) and frames a Lockni teenager, Delgo (Prinze Jr.), for the crime, igniting a war between their people. Desperate to clear his name and rescue the princess, Delgo and his faint-hearted friend Filo (Kattan) join forces with a disgraced Nohrin commander (Kilmer) to prove Delgo's innocence, rescue a princess, reveal a traitor, end a war and unite the peoples of the land before it's too late.

08.13.09 by Widge @ 3:52 pm Comments on this: nada. Add your own. ![]() I know you're thinking what I, another SuperFriends aficionado, was thinking: "Lost episodes?" Super Friends: The Lost Episodes chronicles the adventures of Batman, Robin, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Wonder Twins: Zan and Jayna, and their rascally blue space monkey Gleek, as they join forces to battle evil and save the world from unthinkable dangers. The collection also features fan-favorite villains such as Brainiac, Mr. Mxyzptlk and the Hanna-Barbera-originated hero El Dorado. Produced after the Super Friends series ended its run, these treasures were "lost" for more than a decade until they were finally shown as part of The Superman/Batman Adventures television series.

The soundtrack comes with Warren Zevon, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, James Taylor and more. We've got two copies of the soundtrack to give away, thanks to our friends at Concord Records. Check out what EMI has to tell us on the subject: The 25-track collection spans the band's seven studio albums and includes the hits "Song 2" and "Girls and Boys," as well as "Popscene," an out-of-print single available exclusively on the album. The band's recent reunion as headliners for the Glastonbury Festival was followed by more European festival appearances throughout the summer.

08.10.09 by Widge @ 5:27 am Comments on this: nada. Add your own. ![]() Nothing like a heavy-as-lead boxed set of Agatha Christie mysteries, starring Poirot and Miss Marple. In fact, this thing's dense enough where it could actually serve as a murder weapon. Not trying to give anybody any ideas; I'm just saying. It's twenty-one mysteries across seventeen discs for a total of nearly 35 hours of content. Nice. And our friends at A&E shipped us this massive thing to give away to you folks. We've got one copy--want to win it? Here's how...enter using the form below, and enter once a day. And if we draw your name when the contest ends, there's no mystery--you snag it. Good luck. 08.08.09 by Widge @ 3:38 am Comments on this: nada. Add your own. ![]() It's alarming when I went to go snag the cover art for this DVD--just how many titles there are out there covering this subject. That subject, of course, is Bernie Madoff, who pulled off (well I say pulled off but he did get caught, so...) one of the biggest Ponzi schemes in history. This title from The History Channel covers the scam, the history of Ponzi schemes in general, and also has a bonus scare program: Crash: The Next Great Depression. Want to win it?
