Christmas With the Rat Pack CD cover art

Yes, we're giving away some Dean Martin Christmas music. But in this contest, he's bringing some buddies with him. Reinforcements, if you will.

Mr. Frank Sinatra and Mr. Sammy Davis Jr.

And they're bringing the Xmas music. In addition to some of the tracks from the Dino Christmas album, you've got Sinatra doing "The First Noel" and "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" with Davis providing his take on "Jingle Bells" and "Christmas Time All Over the World."

Now. This, too, is a Xmas Blitz Contest. Seven days to win. Seven chances to enter. You can enter once a day. And remember: don't be surprised by our contests--subscribe to our RSS feed and get the jump on them.

Win Christmas With Dino!

Christmas With Dino CD cover art

Dean Martin. Actor. Singer. Funny guy. Old school cool frood. And, surprisingly, one of those singers whose Xmas songs haven't been played into the ground. You know what I'm talking about: you hear a song kick in for the five-hundredth time in Publix during this fine holiday season, and you get the urge to bludgeon people to death with one of those billy club-sized candy canes.

But Dino doesn't get overplayed, so that's why his "Silver Bells," "Blue Christmas," and "Let It Snow3" are more than tolerable when you need something family friendly to listen to around the Xmas food trough.

And hey, we're going to do a Xmas Blitz Contest and give you a copy so you can give the boot to tired songs and go for the classy stuff.

Get to it and enter here! Seven days only! Starting...now!

The Beatles Help! DVD cover art

Help! is an amazing film. Don't believe me? Here, somebody posted it online, if you can believe it (won't last, though--so enjoy it while you can). Ringo finds himself the target of a cult and the band must bungle around and try to figure out how to keep him safe. I can say no more.

Wait, I can tell you that it's got Leo McKern and Victor Spinetti, as well as the fact it was directed by Richard Lester, who also directed Hard Day's Night.

We've got a copy of the DVD set. In addition to the film (which is restored), this set includes a slew of features on a second disc, including a making-of documentary and a special about the film's restoration. Also included is a 16-page booklet that has tidbits from Richard Lester and Martin Scorsese.

Mystery Patch

Because you requested it--okay, maybe not you specifically, but some people have e-mailed me about this--I'm moving a Mystery Box Contest entry form out to posts instead of the page where it was, so it can be easier to get to.

So here it is. What is the Mystery Box? No one knows!

Well, except for the winner.

And, well, us, since we put it together. But work with us here.

Anyway, the only way to unravel the mystery is to enter and win. Many have. Will you join them?

The Music of Star Wars 30th Anniversary Collector's Edition CD cover art

Okay, you same Star Wars maniacs who have been entering our Kotobukiya Luke vs. Vader contest--listen up--because our friends at Sony have offered up a copy of the 30th Anniversary The Music of Star Wars Collector's Edition for you to win. It's an eight-disc set that lists for about US$90.

"Eight discs?" you might well ask. Yes. Each of the original (and only, dammit, the only) trilogy films gets their own two-disc soundtrack bit, mastered from their Expanded Editions. It says that each of them are "housed in a gatefold mini-jacket that is a scale reproduction of the original LP cover art."

As for the next two discs, here's what they tell us:

The seventh CD is Star Wars: The Corellian Edition. This is a collection of the most popular Star Wars themes from all six episodes – on one CD, for the first time. The new recording takes its name from the Corellian System, a fictional group of "core worlds" at the heart of the Star Wars galaxy. The 13-track Corellian Edition CD can be purchased separately. (The stand-alone version, housed in a single jewel case, became available in stores October 2, 2007. Its track lists and credits are printed on a newly designed six-panel, fold-out mini-poster.)

The eighth CD in the premium box set is a CD-ROM. Its digital artwork files faithfully reproduce all of the inserts – including gatefolds and posters – that were packaged with the original LP vinyl recordings of the themes from Star Wars Episodes IV, V and VI.

Cake's B-Sides and Rarities CD cover art

We go from talking about a messed up cake to a Cake that is still, even after all this time, pleasing to the ear. B-Sides and Rarities is their latest release--and you want it. Yes, it's got some great covers on here--how many other bands can have "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town," "Mahna Mahna" and "War Pigs" on the same disc?

But that's not why you want it.

They've gone indy and have released this own their brand new label, Upbeat Records.

But that's not why you want it.

You want it because it comes with scratch and sniff packaging. Admit it. The copy we have for you is grape. Nice, eh? Well, if you want it, you gotta win it.

But before we get to that, it's our sworn duty to provide you with a link to their official site and to their MySpace page.

Now. To win it, proceed...

Apple Core! Manticore! Who's Your Friend?

Manticore DVD cover art

Why Manticore? Well, because it's got Heather Donahue in it, and I'm one of five people on the planet who didn't start hating on Blair Witch after it became A Thing. For you Star Trek fans, it's got Chase Masterson and Robert Beltran in it. So there's that, too. And of course it has to Mr. Made For TV himself, Jeff Fahey, God bless 'im.

A giant unspeakable beast unleashed from the sands of Iraq to menace soldiers and a news crew? I can practically hear Leigh gnawing on her chair as she considers it. Why?

Because of some of you people out there--and you know who are--freaking love Sci-Fi Channel Original Movies. And it's cool. We try not to judge people on Needcoffee. You're safe here. We can't snicker at you because Dindrane is one of you and if we snicker at her she throws chairs at our heads. So.

What was I saying? Oh yes. Contest. Win it. Go.
