Augie March

Our friends at Filter have returned. They bear prizes regarding Augie March. Read on for more info:

"In keeping with songwriter Glenn Richards' background as an English major, they make literate, studied music richly adorned with unexpected turns of phrase, both lyrical and musical." - Pitchfork

"…they create music so beautiful and bursting with emotion that, after hearing it just a few times, it's impossible to ignore." - PopMatters

Fresh from their acclaimed U.S. showcase dates, Augie March continued their winning streak last week in Melbourne at the 25th Annual Australian Music Awards with 33,000 members voting "One Crowded Hour" as Song Of The Year, as well as Glenn Richards picking up the award for Breakthrough Songwriter Of The Year.

Rumor has it the band will return to our shores in August, just in time for the release of Moo, You Bloody Choir which hits stateside August 7th from Jive/Zomba. Until then check out the MP3 and video of this year's best song from down under after the break.

The Greatest American Hero: The Complete Series

Okay, I had Doc tie a rope around my waist so I could be yanked out if I went too far into the swag closet and got lost. Well, I came back out again clutching the following: yes, it's a copy of The Greatest American Hero on DVD. The whole shebang, in a limited edition collectible tin. $100 value. Nice.

Okay, this has the whole series in it, as well as a replica-thing of the instruction manual (it doesn't have a lot of pages, but it does light up, so it's a tradeoff), a cape, and a decal. William Katt, Robert Culp, Connie Sellecca...show created by Stephen J. Cannell, who by law had to create 75% of the series during the 80s. So if you're a fan, you want this.

How to win? Enter. You can even enter once a day. We're easy. Proceed.

DVD cover art for the Once soundtrack

Our friends at Filter are back with three copies of the soundtrack to the movie Once.

A modern day musical set on the streets of Dublin. Featuring Glen Hansard and his Irish band "The Frames," ONCE tells the story of a street musician and a Czech immigrant during an eventful week as they write, rehearse and record songs that reveal their unique love story.

The Czech immigrant is played by musician Markéta Irglová. You can find the poster and some music videos for the film in our press release section here.

If you want to win one of these copies of the soundtrack we have lounging about, I suggest you enter the contest.

Green Lantern, Hawkman and Wonder Woman action figures from Kingdom Come by DC Direct

Yet again I poke my head into the Needcoffee Swag Contest and instead of pulling out a bloody stump (even though that's a great party trick) I pull out...three Kingdom Come action figures, based on Alex Ross' designs.

This prize pack has Green Lantern, Hawkman and Wonder Woman. They're going for around $15 a shot, and I haven't taken them out of their boxes. The Hawkman one's top has popped open, but that's about it.

Our spare swag is a cure for some extra shelf space at your place. So enter and win. You can do so after the break.

Limited Edition Civil War Captain America bust from Diamond Select Toys

Say what you want about Civil War. I know I have. But there is something to be said for seeing the (temporarily) late Captain America in limited edition bust form. They're limited to 2000 in number and they're a $50 value.

Well, here's the drill. We've partnered up with Diamond Select Toys yet again and there's one of these busts in it for you if you win.

Now, I'll say this here and make it loud and clear because we're doing something different on this contest, just like the last contest with Diamond Select. Part of the deal is by entering, your e-mail address and name will be given to Diamond Select Toys so they can add you to their marketing list. They won't sell or redistribute them, they just want them for themselves. That's a fair cop. But there's no opt-out. If you're not comfortable with that, just flat don't enter. Cool? Cool.

Chrystal Jones won our Peter Pan DVD...

...and Marilyn Wons took the April Mystery Box...

...and Kris Barrett took the May Mystery Box. And that catches us up.

E-mails will be going out to you folks. Just a reminder: you have to respond to confirm your street address. We do that because it avoids the awkward hoobah of boxes coming back to us because of some mistake in how you filled out the address, or how the postal service interpreted them, or whatever whatever. It's just safer that way. Danke.
