Tripping the Rift The Movie Unrated DVD Cover Art

Ah, it seems like just yesterday we were all watching the first version of this show on the internet. And now we're all old as hell. But I digress. The show that's got three seasons under its belt (and isn't wearing much else, most likely) now hits DVD with a seventy-five minute feature-length flick. Stephen Root, Maurice LaMarche and third season incarnation of Six, Jenny McCarthy, are all on hand for this mayhem. Here's what Anchor Bay has to say by way of synopsis:

Tripping The Rift: The Movie is the saga of a bunch of derelict mutant misfits who live, work and play on the starship Jupiter 42, which is controlled by a neurotic A.I. known as Spaceship Bob. Bob's neuroses are kept in check by the verbally abusive pilot T'Nuk while the ship's inner workings are tended by Gus, the melancholy robotic chief engineer. No one's really sure what job is performed by teen slacker Whip, but everyone has a definite idea of sexy android Six's specialties. Captain Chode, a walking purple blob of rancor, hates his crew and they hate him right back. As Chode and the crew work on their latest money making scheme in the space Princess protection business they are unaware that a cyborg killing machine, know as the "Exterminator," has been sent back in time by the evil Bobo to eliminate their copulating captain, a mission that isn't as easy as it might seem.

You could have used that synopsis to describe life here at Needcoffee...right up until the bit about the spaceship. Then we sort of diverge. A bit.

Win The Lemonheads

Lemonheads: It

Okay, not the band. Just the collector's edition version of their album, It's a Shame About Ray. But you can see how that would have been a bit much to put in the title. And it's not just the album, it's bonus material on the first disc and the second disc is a DVD called "Two Weeks in Australia." It's out from Rhino.

Want to give it a listen? Sure thing.

More on what Rhino has to say about it here:

The album features the trio -- Evan Dando (guitar, vocals), David Ryan (drums) and Juliana Hatfield (bass, backing vocals) -- breezing through 13 songs in just under 30 minutes, including the title track, "My Drug Buddy," "The Turnpike Down" and a romping cover of the Simon and Garfunkel classic "Mrs. Robinson." The 10 bonus tracks feature "Shaky Ground," which was originally released as the B-side to "My Drug Buddy." The remaining nine songs are unreleased demos that Dando recorded in 1991, including early renditions of album tracks "Confetti," "Rockin Stroll" and "Hannah & Gabi," plus "Bit Part," which includes vocals from Hatfield.

Win Walk the Line on DVD

Walk the Line DVD cover art

Okay, so...Chazzie award winner Johnny Cash. Is there anybody who can't respect the Man in Black? And I'm not just saying that because he and I share a color scheme. Or lack thereof. No, the man was just badass in every sense of the word. And Walk the Line is the Man played by Joaquin Phoenix, with Reese Witherspoon as June Carter (and she won an Oscar for the role).

And Fox has put out the extended cut of the film in a two-disc set. You get an extended cut of the film, commentary with director James Mangold, extended musical sequences, deleted scenes, and a slew of featurettes.

If you haven't tried out the film yet, here ya go. Have a sample:

Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash - "Get Rhythm" w/ intro:
Quicktime High; Quicktime Low
RealPlayer High; RealPlayer Low
Windows Media High; Windows Media Low

Want to win it? Excellent! Because we've got four copies here. And they each have to go to somebody.
