03.13.08 by Widge @ 4:57 am Okay, so when I saw these coming up on Dark Horse's release radar, I knew I wanted to get on board and get a pair for you to win. So you know, we've got these busts for you to win. And man, they are sweet. (You can click the thumbnails there to see the full glory of each.) 500 piece limited edition for each. They clock in at $69 each as well. The Bride is about 8.5 inches tall, The Monster 9. Here's what they have to say for themselves: The Monster is the first entry in the Paquet's Cabinet of Curiosities bust line and The Bride is the second, depicting new visions of old horrors as designed, sculpted and painted by the master of visual horror, William Paquet. The Monster is Mary Shelley's creature as envisioned through the eyes of Paquet. The Bride is the perfect complement to The Monster as the good Doctor intended. What can I say to that except Nice? Proceed to win. Oh, and just a quick addendum: if you win, we're going to need your phone numbers so Dark Horse can get you your swag. So if you don't have a phone number, um...borrow one. 03.12.08 by Widge @ 4:02 am Emma Roberts is the new Nancy Drew. And she's been in a movie, which in a fit of obviousness they decided to call Nancy Drew. Directed by Andrew Fleming, it's out now on DVD from Warner Brothers. The difference here is that she's moved to Hollywood to solve a mystery. I guess because it was more economical to just shoot in Hollywood rather than try to pretend the backlot was River Heights. Or...something. So you not only get the mystery angle but the fish out of water angle. In case you needed multiple angles. You get a featurette, some mini-featurettes and one of those terrifying music videos. You also get the DVD...or you will if you win it. We've got five copies to give away. Want one? Win it. You know how to proceed. But just in case you don't, the rules follow hard upon. 03.11.08 by Widge @ 12:25 am Okay, normally I shy away from anything that even smells like something political. Because that's not what we're about here. Unless it's just something so rampantly silly that we place it in our YGAW bucket and run with it. Because we can't help ourselves when that happens. And I can't help myself with this. And you might ask: Widge, why? What makes this instance so different? Is it because it's out from Comedy Central? No. Is it that we're dealing with the modern day governmental equivalent of Muppet Babies? No. Is it because the commentary on the disc features Jerry Springer, Ralph Nader and Tucker Carlson? Impressive, but no. No, it's because that posting this contest gives me the opportunity to also post the greatest behind the scenes shot you will ever see. Categorized as: Contests

03.10.08 by Widge @ 1:21 am Imperium Romanum, the new PC/Windows platform game from Kalypso and Southpeak, is about to hit. For those of you who like real-time strategy games (I'm a sucker for them myself), you'll want to take a look at this. Here's what they have to say for themselves: Imperium Romanum puts the player in the role of a governor of a province, where he or she must strive to build a well organized, prosperous and commanding settlement. Set in the time of the Roman Empire at its peak, players will marvel at the incredible attention to detail as they construct fortifications, towers, gates and bridges, while paying for them with a new currency. Imperium Romanum is a challenging, enjoyable, and authentic quest to rule the world. That's right, because quests to rule the world should always be enjoyable. Because otherwise, really, what's the point? Anyway, we've got a copy of the game to give to one of the lucky among you. Want to win? You know what comes next... Categorized as: Contests

03.09.08 by Widge @ 3:13 am What is Automaton Transfusion, besides a great name for a Japanese thrash-ska band? It's a zombie movie. And you know we've got a weak spot for zombie movies. Here's what they have to say for themselves: The United States Army began developing a procedure to bring back the dead with the purpose of having them fight instead of the living. The testing takes a horrific turn and an experimental town quickly becomes overtaken by zombies. Three desperate high school students decide to fight back in a battle for survival. Of course they do. And they do so...with special features: an audio commentary with the writer/director and the producers, a making-of, deleted scenes with optional commentary, and more. This is out from Genius Products and The Weinstein Company. Want it? We've got two copies...enter to win, folks. Categorized as: Contests
