Comic Relief: The Greatest… and the Latest DVD cover art

Comic Relief: in the UK, it's a party like you wouldn't believe, culminating in Red Nose Day every two years and finds an entire country having a good time and doing good for other.

In the United States, you'd be hard pressed to remember the last time it aired on television. Or at least the last time it aired and anyone paid attention.

Still, there has been some funny stuff on Comic Relief, and that's what Shout Factory is celebrating with the recent release of Comic Relief: The Greatest… and the Latest. You get uncensored footage, behind the scenes stuff, interviews and more, across two discs.

Comedians on the DVD include Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Williams, Lewis Black, Dane Cook, John Candy, Jennifer Coolidge, George Carlin, Mike Epps, Jim Carrey, Susie Essman, Dave Chappelle, D.L. Hughley, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Eugene Levy, Richard Lewis, George Lopez, Jon Lovitz, Bill Maher, Howie Mandel, Dennis Miller, Dudley Moore, Catherine O'Hara, Jeremy Piven, Harold Ramis, Carl Reiner, Chris Rock, Ray Romano, Rita Rudner, Bob Saget, Garry Shandling, Martin Short, Sarah Silverman, Jon Stewart, Fred Willard and Steven Wright.

Win Stephen Chow's The Royal Tramp Collection

The Royal Tramp Collection with Stephen Chow DVD Cover Art

Stephen Chow. He brought you Shaolin Soccer. He brought you Kung Fu Hustle. But before all of that, he brought you Royal Tramp. The collection is here on DVD from Dragon Dynasty. Here's what they have to say for themselves:

Wilson Bond (Chow), a double-talking, fast-moving conman stumbles across a conspiracy that could bring down the entire Ming Dynasty. In hilarious fashion, he attempts to save the day, cheating death, charming the ladies, and kicking butt all along the way.

Kicking butt. You heard it here, folks. Bey Logan, a Hong Kong cinema expert, is on hand to give commentary on both films--I know, I know, it's hard to believe. Fu with special features! Doc just swooned in the corner, he's so overwhelmed. Honest. The second film comes with an interview with the writer/director as well.

We've got a copy here that we'd love to give you...but you have to win! And in order to win, you must enter. So get in there and kick some butt (metaphorically).

Win Swamp Thing: The Series on DVD!

Swamp Thing: The Series DVD cover art

Swamp Thing--the character who paved the way for the Vertigo comics you all know and love these days--was a TV series on USA in the early 90s. Starring Dick Durock as the creature (who's reprising his role from the films), this four disc set from Shout Factory has the first two seasons in the proper order (shows in the wrong order--I think a few of us can relate, hmmm, Firefly fans?).

Twenty-two episodes are here--and not just that: you also get interviews with co-creator Len Wein and Durock himself!

You can find the trailer here.

And here's a taste of the interview with Durock.

So...want it? You know the drill. We've got a copy here that could have your name on it! (Metaphorically--if we actually did write your name on it, it would damage the cover art.)

Win "In Bruges" Swag
Posted on 02.13.08 by Widge @ 3:28 am
In Bruges poster

The movie is "In Bruges" (think of "Brooge" pronounced like "Scrooge"). It's a comedy with Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes. Oh, and there's guns. What more can you possibly want from a film? I'm amazed/slightly aghast that it's in such limited release right now.

Anyway, here's the synopsis they've given us:

Bruges, the most well-preserved medieval city in the whole of Belgium, is a welcoming destination for travellers from all over the world. But for hit men Ray (Colin Farrell) and Ken (Brendan Gleeson), it could be their final destination; a difficult job has resulted in the pair being ordered right before Christmas by their London boss Harry (two-time Academy Award nominee Ralph Fiennes) to go and cool their heels in the storybook Flemish city for a couple of weeks.

But the longer they stay waiting for Harry’s call, the more surreal their experience becomes, as they find themselves in weird encounters with locals, tourists, violent medieval art, a dwarf American actor (Jordan Prentice) shooting a European art film, Dutch prostitutes, and a potential romance for Ray in the form of Chloë (Clémence Poésy), who may have some dark secrets of her own. And when the call from Harry does finally come, Ken and Ray’s vacation becomes a life-and-death struggle of darkly comic proportions and surprisingly emotional consequences.

And there's guns! Here, I'll show you the trailer after the jump:

Highlander: The Source DVD cover art

Another Highlander movie? Yes, another Highlander movie. If you were surprised, then thump yourself in the nose. Have we taught you nothing?!

Although you could be surprised that the franchise has become a Sci-Fi Original and that there's two more coming. I would have expected direct-to-video, sure, but Sci-Fi first (back last September) then DTV? Yeah, that was a new one.

Regardless, you Adrian Paul fans out there will be getting your fix again. We've got details after the break here, but suffice to say it's hitting DVD and we've got two copies to give away. So rejoice.

Where were we? Oh yes, so the fifth film in the franchise is hitting DVD from Lionsgate. What's the story?

Immortals have secretly dwelt among us for thousands of years, locked in an eternal game of combat. Their origins have been shrouded in mystery. The answers, Prophets say, are to be found in The Source. As The End of Days approach, the last band of eternal warriors led by Duncan MacLeod, the Highlander, have set out on a treacherous quest to find the origin of their immortality. However, to learn the ancient truth, they must first defeat The Guardian of the Source, a powerful and ruthless killer who'll stop at nothing to bring them all to a painful end.
