06.20.07 by Widge @ 6:52 pm ![]() Review: This is supposed to be the berry-infused cousin of Vault, the energy drink from Coke that, while tasty, looks like it escaped from Herbert West's syringe. Trouble is: I got a lot of Vault taste with this, but not a great deal of berry. It came off as Vault that had simply been colored red. That might be nice for Xmas decorations, but when it comes to taste: meh. I'll stick with the original. Time: 20 seconds. Categorized as: Drinks and Reviews

05.16.07 by Widge @ 2:05 am ![]() In a first for the U.S., a carbonated soft drink is going to be available in aluminum bottles. That is coming from Mountain Dew, but it's only in select markets, and only from May to October. Although if they sell like mad, you can expect another round of it, I'm sure. So if you like it, buy it. Anyway, to draw more attention to this endeavor, they've snagged over a dozen artists to make limited edition designs for the bottles. That's one from Troy Denning you can see there. We've got a full list of the artists after the break, but if you want to see their flashy site that shows all the art and more, check out Green Label Art. Categorized as: Drinks and Headsup

04.28.07 by Widge @ 12:51 am ![]() Hey, Coke. What's the deal already? This year I snagged some of your "Passover" or "Kosher" Coke. The kind that you make with real sugar instead of with high fructose corn syrup. Okay, to be perfectly honest, I didn't snag some of it. I bought out all that I could find at three Publixs. But that's not the point. The point is this: why the hell isn't this available year round? Come on, it tastes better. We did a blind taste test between regular Coke and kosher Coke and the kosher version has a richer, fuller taste to it. I know it sounds insane to be talking about your soft drink like I'm some sort of wine connoisseur but at least I'm not saying that it needs to breathe first and swishing it around in my glass, am I? 10.29.06 by Widge @ 8:06 pm ![]() Fascinating. I don't know anything about their Transylvanian grapes that they apparently saved from destruction or what all, but kudos to them for making a wine that's perfect for Halloween parties. And, you know, for Goths on a day to day basis. Hell, I don't know. It might be really damn good stuff that's perfect with steak. Rare, of course. And I'm amazed they sell white varieties at all. Just a little bit off-theme there. Categorized as: Drinks

10.05.06 by Widge @ 11:32 pm ![]() Some people drink Red Bull to stay awake. Uncle Warren drinks it because it feeds the nanites that live in his bloodstream and keep him alive. I drink it because it tingles. Just a little. But apparently some people drink it then use the cans for art. More power to them. There's an exhibit of Red Bull can artwork here in Atlanta, starting October 14th. For more information and the online galleries, check out the site here. Categorized as: Drinks
