DVD cover art for Heroes Season 1

Yes, I know, I know. You're all freaking out about Heroes. I know you are, because so many members of the Needcoffee Army have told me personally that they are loving the living hell out of the show. Well, here's your headsup, boys and girls: it's hitting DVD and HD DVD August 28th.

And I know you're going to want to snag it, because here's what they tell us about it:

The seven-disc DVD set is packed with revealing bonus features, including five featurettes, over 50 deleted scenes plus the 73-minute Tim Kring cut of the original series premiere that has never aired on television and much more.

Yes. Full list of bonus bits after the jump.

So when you have a moment, if you're going to buy it, buy it through us--because we get kickbacks from Amazon for it. The SRP is $59.98 but you can pre-order through Amazon for $41.99 as I type this. Nice. And if enough of you do, one day I'll make enough money off this site to have time to watch television again.

My Advice: Skip it.

Tarzan (Linz and, in older form, Goldwyn) was lost at sea and rescued and raised by the Apes in deepest, darkest Africa. He just so happened to make really good friends with an ape named Terk (O'Donnell) and an elephant named Tantor (Knight). Along comes a British expedition composed of an aging researcher named Porter (Hawthorne), a brute of a man named Clayton (Blessed), and the beautiful Jane Porter (Driver). Jane discovers Tarzan, who just so happens to have been wondering why he's different from all the other apes. Through Jane and Porter, he learns that he is human and is forced to decide whether to continue to live among the apes or go with the humans. Oh yeah, since Clayton is only out to kill an ape, Tarzan must save his family from destruction, too.

The things I put myself through for you people. I swear...

Herbie Fully Loaded (2005) - DVD Review
Posted on 04.27.07 by HTQ4 @ 8:35 pm

Film:
DVD:

My Advice: Rent it

Herbie hasn't had a very good run of things since being forced out of the racing circuit. In fact, he's found himself at a junkyard. Enter the Peyton family. Maggie (Lohan) has just graduated from college and her father, Ray (Keaton) owns a NASCAR racing team. Maggie's brother Ray, Jr. (Meyer) is the driver for the company, and is probably why the company hasn't been doing so well lately. Anyway, Herbie winds up in her life and, of course, changes everything and gets himself into a NASCAR race in the process.

Headsup: TV on DVD
Posted on 04.21.07 by ScottC @ 7:12 am

Alias - The Complete Fifth Season. CIA agent Sydney Bristow has a lot to deal with in this final season. It's not exactly healthy to be her boyfriend. And she finds out she's pregnant. She gets an early start on the whole maternal thing when she has to help Rachel Gibson (Rachael Nichols) come to terms with working for a shadowy group posing as the CIA, something Sydney is all too familiar with. Together with the maverick agent Tom Grace and spy daddy Jack Bristow (Victor Garber), they will fight to stop arch nemesis Arvin Sloane from possessing the greatest creation of the Renaissance genius Milo Rambaldi. Buena Vista has packaged all 18 ass-kicking episodes with plenty of extras as always. There are commentaries on four episodes, a behind the scenes featurette at the 100th episode, and at the music for the series. You also get a look at the new recruit Rachael Nichols, the master of McGuffins, Rambaldi, and of course, a blooper reel. Buy it from Amazon.

My Advice: Get it.

In this science-fiction anime version of Moby Dick, it's the year 4699, and a young researcher named Dew is collecting daily data on an icy planet known as Windmill. Dew is told that his duties are complete, and he is due to be reassigned to a new mission, which is downloaded directly into his cybernetic parts. Just as he's receiving the information, however, the frozen peace of the ice world is broken, as a giant white shape, apparently some kind of massive robotic ship, blasts up through the ice, and abducts Dew. The next time we see him, his cyborg-like human structure is being rebuilt by strange machines he does not seem to recognize: he is apparently inside the giant white ship, and a voice announces to him that he is now joined to them. But how? And why? And what can Our Hero do to rescue himself from… whatever awaits him at the hands of the strange aliens? Meanwhile, we meet Lucky, a stowaway out of Nantucket, traveling to find the mad Captain Ahab who is needed on Lucky's home planet. Ahab and his men are "whale hunters," scavengers who recycle finds from derelict ships.
