08.14.07 by Widge @ 9:10 pm Ah, Steve. Even though these days you seem to alternate between serious indies and cheesy remakes, we still love you, deep down in the sub-cockle regions of our hearts. Thank you for being the wonderful whackjob you are. The biggest problem is deciding which clips to use to pay homage to you, sir. You've done so much funny shit in your time. There's one no brainer we've posted previously. But I think this next one is simply necessary: Categorized as: Events

08.13.07 by Widge @ 9:50 am Alfred Hitchcock--the master craftsman of suspense. Not only could the man put together a mean movie (no pun intended, sometimes) but he had a wicked sense of humor. Emphasis on the wicked. Example: his solution below for something that afflicts the majority of this site's readers... Direct link for the feedreaders. More after the break... Categorized as: Events

08.06.07 by Widge @ 11:18 pm Everybody loves Lucy. You know, or they can answer to me. The only trouble with trying to pick a clip from her I Love Lucy show is how to pick just one? So we go first with Lucy's famous attempt to become a spokesperson: Direct link for the feedreaders. Categorized as: Events

08.04.07 by Widge @ 4:27 pm So when looking for stuff about the great Satchmo, I came across this bit: Armstrong's birthdate was originally supposed to be July 4, 1900. However, his birthday was actually August 4, 1901--somebody apparently found a baptismal certificate in the 80s, after Armstrong's death. Now, I'm not certain if that's what he was told and actually believed (Wikipedia) or if that's just something he came up with because he didn't know his own birthdate (Satchmo.net's forum--their FAQ is broken, apparently). But either way, that's fascinating. Speaking of fascinating: look what I found while searching for appropriate video clips: Louis Armstrong on The Johnny Cash Show, and the two of them playing a Jimmie Rodgers cover. This is so cool, I just had to share: Direct link for the feedreaders. And, of course, a perennial favorite after the break. Categorized as: Events

08.02.07 by Widge @ 9:01 pm There are so many performances from Peter that we love. It's hard to choose one. I had originally considered something from My Favorite Year, but unable to find anything online for it I went with the film that's my #1 favorite when it comes to badass dialogue: The Lion in Winter. O'Toole at the top of his game, plus Katharine Hepburn, Anthony Hopkins and the screen debut of Timothy Dalton. Here's a little bit of just about everybody: Direct link for the feedreaders. And a great O'Toole moment comes after the break... Categorized as: Events
