08.04.07 by Widge @ 4:27 pm So when looking for stuff about the great Satchmo, I came across this bit: Armstrong's birthdate was originally supposed to be July 4, 1900. However, his birthday was actually August 4, 1901--somebody apparently found a baptismal certificate in the 80s, after Armstrong's death. Now, I'm not certain if that's what he was told and actually believed (Wikipedia) or if that's just something he came up with because he didn't know his own birthdate (Satchmo.net's forum--their FAQ is broken, apparently). But either way, that's fascinating. Speaking of fascinating: look what I found while searching for appropriate video clips: Louis Armstrong on The Johnny Cash Show, and the two of them playing a Jimmie Rodgers cover. This is so cool, I just had to share: Direct link for the feedreaders. And, of course, a perennial favorite after the break. Categorized as: Events

08.02.07 by Widge @ 9:01 pm There are so many performances from Peter that we love. It's hard to choose one. I had originally considered something from My Favorite Year, but unable to find anything online for it I went with the film that's my #1 favorite when it comes to badass dialogue: The Lion in Winter. O'Toole at the top of his game, plus Katharine Hepburn, Anthony Hopkins and the screen debut of Timothy Dalton. Here's a little bit of just about everybody: Direct link for the feedreaders. And a great O'Toole moment comes after the break... Categorized as: Events

08.01.07 by Widge @ 7:00 am You know, I tried to find a nice, long clip to summarize why we love you, Dom. But, honestly, I think this bit says it all. Categorized as: Events

08.01.07 by Widge @ 6:44 am That's right, folks. The clown shenanigans we previously hinted to might just be here, because August 1-7 is officially Clown Week. No, really, check it out. Just remember, clowns can be scary, scary things. Please take note of the following instructional video. Direct link for the feedreaders. Wait, sorry, that's the wrong one. The real instructional video's after the break. Categorized as: Events

07.24.07 by Widge @ 12:01 am Ah, Lynda. Not only are you beautiful, not only can you deflect bullets and fly an invisible plane, but you can also sing and dodge Muppets. Sigh. What a gal. Direct link for the feedreaders. And...oh, all right, it's after the break. Categorized as: Events
