Dark Chocolate Altoids?
Posted on 08.13.06 by Widge @ 6:13 am

I dig Altoids. I like the mints, especially the cinnamon ones. I dig their gum, because it's actually intense, as opposed to a lot of supposedly "strong" gums that last about five seconds. I even like the sour bits, although I can't consume too many of them before whatever makes them sour starts to screw with my head.

But dipping an Altoid mint in dark chocolate? Does this sound like a good idea to anyone?

I mean, kudos for this eBay auction going to help the Red Cross and all, but these will hit shelves eventually, so the description says. And I say gah. Just gah.

Dalek Cake

For you Who fans out there--and hell, for pretty much anybody--Chocablog has the right attitude down when it comes to not only this beastly concoction but also chocolate experiments of any kind:

There are two possible methods to follow with regard to this recipe; one. Read the following instructions or two. buy as many chocolate items as you can carry home in a large family estate car and simply make it up as you go along.

Genius. Exterminate indeed.

Ecreamery: Roll Your Own Ice Cream
Posted on 07.13.06 by Cosette @ 7:16 am
yummy

Chicago-based ecreamery.com has come up with an ingenious idea for us ice cream junkies. They allow you to build your own gourmet ice cream. First, you choose a base mixture, from a lighter gelato mix to a super creamy (just try not to read the part with the fat content). Next, you choose flavors (everything from black raspberry to anise), and finally, mixed-in goodies like walnut brownies, licorice, or even candied rose petals or basil. Finally, you get to name your creation and have it shipped to you! To illustrate just how creative you can get, their flavor of the month is Cucumber Dill. If you can't afford the steep prices, you can at least create something fabulous (or very scary) and e-mail your creation to a friend.

Cold Sweat Ice Cream: Fire With a Side of Fire

Cold Sweat

Slashfood points us to (warns us about?) an ice cream parlor in North Carolina where they've created a flavor that could be construed as an affront to God and man: "Cold Sweat." What is in Cold Sweat, you ask? The article informs us:

The final version is made with a blend of Dave's Insanity Hot Sauce and Blair's Megadeath Hot Sauce, along with a secret ingredient. Chile peppers, habaneros and Thai chiles are then stirred in.

Sweet mother of the apothecary's widow. That's some crazy shit right there, folks. Be sure to read the whole article. The blow by blow of what Cold Sweat does to you, plus some of the verbiage on the waiver you have to sign to try it, make it worth the price of admission.

Fairytale Brownies: Each One a Happy Ending
Posted on 06.23.06 by Widge @ 2:47 am

Well, when I saw that Fairytale Brownies have the URL "brownies.com," I figured they must not be screwing around. So we received some to try out of curiosity because, well, it's just a public service we provide here. You're welcome.

For those of you who've had my brownies (not those kind of brownies, ya freaks), you know that they're huge, mutant monstrosities, packed with so much chocolate that they can almost be classified as weapons and are probably illegal in some states.

Fairytale Brownies, as you can see from the picture there, are much more subdued. They're not huge, they're not overly thick, because they don't need to be. They're made of Belgian chocolate and the extra bits, like the chunks (and I do mean chunks) that come in the toffee brownies, are just right. You can easily share one of these with someone else and not feel cheated, because they're damn rich. They're not overpowering, they're just...satisfying.
