06.14.07 by Widge @ 7:03 pm ![]() I had heard before that Twinkies, before they had regular old vanilla creme inside them, had banana creme filling instead. This ended due to a banana shortage in the 1940s. But now, having apparently tired of teasing Twinkie fans with banana creme in limited edition spurts (no pun intended), Banana Twinkies have returned. Assuming that there actually is real banana in there somewhere, now you can get some potassium along with scads of sugar! Bonus! Categorized as: Food and Headsup

05.30.07 by Widge @ 10:54 am ![]() That's right. You can go to a participating Krispy Kreme store and get a free donut on National Doughnut Day, this coming Friday, June 1st. I know, I know: you might have been trying to resist the pull of the Hot Donuts Now sign, which pulls you in like a moth to a flame. But free? There's no defense against free fat pills. 05.28.07 by Widge @ 4:45 am ![]() Review: It's like something out of a bad teen movie from the 80s: you taste the pomegranate portion of the treat and it's like it's a sweet girl you'd like to get to know better. Then just as you chatting her up gets good--the chocolate shows up, and it turns out it's her boyfriend. Suddenly that rich pomegranate taste is overwhelmed by chocolate, leaving the taste buds to go home alone and brokenhearted. Next time, Haagen-Dazs, let's see the pomegranate portion come to the dance solo, huh? Time: 23 seconds. Categorized as: Food and Reviews

05.19.07 by Widge @ 2:32 am Quaker has come out with the results of a survey they conducted with kids, showing that 83% of them "think it would be fun to be a pirate." This to celebrate the return of Jean LaFoote (no doubt because we summoned him back from the Phantom Zone via the Film Fests like we did with another nefarious food-shilling creature of evil). The commercial above is to remind you who the hell he is, naturally. There's also some good news for those of us who fear that childhood imagination is dead these days: According to the survey, nine out of 10 kids say imagining and creating their own adventures is one of their favorite activities. 05.15.07 by Widge @ 2:41 am ![]() Coming soon to direct-to-DVD release: a sequel to White Noise. This time around, it's not EVP, electronic voice phenomenon, that the dead are using to contact us--it's our breakfast. "Hello World." Once a standard default post for a Wordpress installation, it's now...a clarion call of doom. Or...maybe not. Michael Keaton needs work and I want to help the man out, that's all I know. Regardless, the maniacs at Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories have created a device to toast words and pictures on your...well, your toast. It's only a matter of time before you can get free toast for life if every single slice comes with an advert on it. You know it's coming. Categorized as: Food
